Having first showcased the Harrier EV in concept guise at the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors has now unveiled the production version of the SUV at Auto Expo 2025. The Harrier EV is based on a heavily modified version of its ICE platform. Interestingly, Tata Motors rolled out the Harrier EV on stage without a driver, showcasing what it is calling the 'summon' feature.

Tata Harrier EV design, interior and features

The Harrier EV isn’t a grounds-up new EV, so it isn’t a surprise that it looks largely the same as its ICE-counterpart. There are a few tweaks to the grille, and the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned with EV-specific details, which sets it apart from the ICE version. It also gets new a new aero-optimised alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish, and ‘.EV’ badging on the front doors and tailgate. In fact, the design philosophy is pretty similar to what we’ve seen with the Nexon/Nexon EV and Curvv/Curvv EV. The show car at the Expo comes finished in a matte black paint shade which Tata is calling the Stealth Edition. 

On the inside, too, the Harrier EV carries forward a lot from the diesel-powered SUV. A large 12.3-inch touchscreen takes centre stage on the dashboard and it also gets a touch-based panel for the HVAC controls. The Harrier EV also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, new terrain modes, connected car tech, over-the-air updates and cloud-connected telematics.

Tata Harrier EV range, battery and specs

The Harrier EV is based on Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture – the Land Rover-derived Omega platform has been heavily modified for electrification. Crucially, electrification has finally allowed an all-wheel drive system (a first for a Tata in several years) on the Harrier with one motor on each axle. Detailed specifications aren't available just yet, but Tata says it will have 500Nm of peak torque. 

Upon launch, the Harrier EV will compete with the new Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti e Vitara. Prices are expected to be announced by March this year, and it could be in the Rs 25 lakh-30 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
