Skoda to replace Kushaq's faulty fuel pump

It’s barely been a couple of months since customers started receiving deliveries of the Skoda Kushaq, and several social media groups have been flooded with reports of customers experiencing problems with the Electronic Power Control (EPC). Skoda has now diagnosed the problem and will soon be fixing the vehicles with the faulty fuel pump.

Skoda Kushaq facing faulty fuel pump issue

Several customers have already noted a problem with the Electric Power Control (EPC) within just a day or two of the delivery of the vehicle. Customers have been experiencing problems such as warning light on EPC, loss of power, and even the engine cutting off completely.

Skoda has assured that they will be replacing the fuel pump with a ‘more robust unit’ on all the models that have already been delivered to customers, including the ones who have not been affected, as a precautionary measure.

The replacement will be carried out free of cost at authorised service centres. Customers will be contacted individually as and when dealerships have stocks of the new fuel pump. All new Kushaqs that are being dispatched have already been fitted with the updated  fuel pump.

Zac Hollis, head of sales and marketing at Skoda India, tweeted, “We have a new, more robust fuel pump to be fitted to Kushaq. Dealers will contact customers once they have stocks.”

Skoda Kushaq crosses 10,000 bookings mark

Skoda India has also announced today that the Kushaq has crossed the 10,000 bookings mark in India. The Kushaq achieved this in just a little over two months since it was launched on June 28.

Skoda Kushaq Style automatic variants get new safety features

As reported by Autocar India earlier, Skoda has officially confirmed that the automatic Style variants of the Kushaq (both 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre-TSI) will be upgraded with 6 airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system. So far, the top-spec Style automatic variants of the Kushaq only came with dual airbags. Meanwhile, the Style manual variants were equipped with 6 airbags and a tyre pressure monitor. Understandably, this was a measure to keep the prices of the top-spec automatic variants under check.

However, these features have now been added on the Style automatic variants for approximately Rs 40,000 more. That means the top-spec Style 1.5-litre DSG will now cost Rs 17.99 lakh, while the Style 1.0-litre AT will now cost Rs 16.19 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This makes the Kushaq a little more expensive than the top-spec petrol automatic variants of its immediate rivals – Creta (Rs 17.87 lakh) and Seltos (Rs 17.79 lakh) – while it’s still not as feature-rich as the latter two.

Upcoming Skoda launches in India: 2021 and beyond

The next major launch from the Czech carmaker in India will be an all-new mid-size sedan (likely to be called the Skoda Slavia), replacing the ageing Rapid. The upcoming sedan will also be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, just like the Kushaq, and will be launched sometime in early 2022. Skoda also has the facelifted Kodiaq petrol on the cards for India, which too will arrive sometime next year.
