new car launches

November brought a busy run of launches, including the next-generation Hyundai Venue, 2025 Tata Sierra and Mahindra XEV 9S. Now that we’re in the final month of the year, a few more models are waiting in line to hit the market. These include SUVs from Maruti, Tata and MG and a convertible hatchback from Mini. Meanwhile, Kia will reveal one of its next-generation SUVs. Here’s a quick look at what’s coming in December.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is the carmaker’s first electric vehicle, whose production version was revealed at the 2025 Auto Expo in January. As reported earlier, the e Vitara will initially be sold in India with a front-wheel-drive 174hp motor and 61kWh battery pack, offering over 500km of ARAI-rated range; the twin-motor AWD version is only expected to come later. Maruti may also introduce the 144hp-49kWh motor and battery setup with entry-level variants.

The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs, currently available with the Fiat-sourced 170hp, 350Nm 2-litre diesel engine, will add a direct-injection 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine option. Tata debuted this new mill in the 2025 Sierra with outputs of 160hp, 255Nm, paired with an AISIN-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, this engine was revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo with relatively higher 170hp and 280Nm, and it remains to be seen if the GDI motor will deliver those figures in the Harrier and Safari.

MG Hector facelift

Expected by mid-December

MG Hector facelift

Sources say JSW-MG could introduce a second facelift for the Hector this month, with a couple of cosmetic upgrades and feature additions. MG launched the Hector in 2019, followed by its first update in 2023. The 143hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and the 170hp, 350Nm 2-litre diesel (same as the Harrier and Safari) engines with respective manual/automatic gearbox choices are likely to be carried over in the 2025 Hector facelift.

New Mini Cooper convertible

Expected by mid to late December

Mini convertible

2025 Mini Cooper Convertible bookings have been underway since November 19 at the brand’s website and dealerships. Based on the 2-door Cooper S hatchback, the convertible version will feature the same 204hp, 300Nm 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While the standard car is priced from Rs 43.7 lakh, ex-showroom, before options, the convertible is expected to start at around Rs 55 lakh.
