Celebrating MG Motor's centenary year, MG Motor India has slashed prices of the Hector and Gloster SUVs as well as the Comet EV. The carmaker has also introduced a new entry-level Executive trim of ZS EV, making it more accessible to buyers.

    1. Comet EV starting price has gone down by Rs 99,000
    2. Gloster starting price reduced by Rs 1.31 lakh
    3. ZS EV gets new entry-level Executive trim

MG Hector, Gloster and Comet EV prices slashed

Prices for the Hector petrol now start from Rs 14.94 lakh, while the diesel variants are now priced from Rs 17.50 lakh. This means the starting price of Hector petrol and diesel variants have been slashed by Rs 6,000 and Rs 79,000, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hector’s rivals – Tata's Harrier and Mahindra's XUV700 – are priced from Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 14.03 lakh, respectively.

The Gloster and Comet EV see even greater price cuts. Prices for the Gloster now start at Rs 37.49 lakh – down by Rs 1.31 lakh – while the Comet EV is now priced from Rs 6.99 lakh – down by Rs 99,000. For reference, diesel variants of the Toyota Fortuner – the Gloster’s only current rival – is priced from Rs 35.93 lakh. The Comet EV does not have any direct rival in India.

However, a detailed price list isn’t available just yet as MG has only revealed the starting prices for now. “This has been made possible due to increased localisation, long-term freight contracts, streamlined logistics, supply chain improvement, and long-term key commodities cost rationalisation,” said Gaurav Gupta, deputy managing Director, MG Motor India.

ZS EV gets new Executive trim

MG has also launched a new entry-level Executive trim for the ZS EV that’s priced at Rs 18.98 lakh. This new trim brings down the starting price of the ZS EV by a whopping Rs 3.9 lakh from the Excite trim, which is priced at Rs 22.88 lakh. It remains mechanically unchanged, although a few features must have been deleted to achieve that aggressive price point. MG, however, hasn’t revealed the exact details of the equipment available on the ZS EV Executive variant.
