Much is known about the Hyundai Venue already and among the details still not in the public domain is the SUV’s fuel economy figures. We’ve just got our hands on the Venue’s economy numbers and the news is good. Topping the list is the Venue 1.0 GDI with the 6-speed manual transmission that has an economy of 18.27kpl. Coming in a close second is the 1.0 GDI with the 7-speed dual-clutch auto that has an ARAI-tested fuel economy figure of 18.15kpl. The Venue 1.2 petrol that is available solely with a 5-speed manual gearbox delivers a lower 17.52kpl. Buyers drawn to the diesel for the higher fuel economy will be happy to learn the Venue 1.4 diesel is rated for 23.7kpl.

How does the Hyundai Venue’s fuel economy compare with that of rivals? Talking petrol-manuals, the Venue 1.0 GDI (18.27kpl) tops the list, edging out the Ford EcoSport 1.0 EcoBoost (18.1kpl). The Venue 1.2 (17.52kpl) comes in third ahead of the Ford EcoSport 1.5 MT (17kpl), Mahindra XUV300 (17kpl) and Tata Nexon (17kpl).

The Venue petrol-auto (18.15kpl) with its dual-clutch auto also betters the AMT-equipped Tata Nexon (17kpl) and the torque converter-equipped Ford Ecosport’s figure of 14.8kpl.

The Hyundai Venue diesel (23.7kpl) also scores for efficiency but can’t quite match the class best figure. It’s the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the most economical compact SUV with a figure of 24.3kpl. However, the Hyundai Venue diesel does better the diesel versions of the Ford EcoSport (23kpl), Tata Nexon (21.5kpl) and Mahindra XUV300 (20kpl).

Do note, unlike the Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Hyundai Venue does not come with a diesel-automatic option.
