Hyundai has launched a new seven-seater variant of the Alcazar in its mid-spec Platinum (O) trim, which has been priced at Rs 19.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The seven-seater layout has only been introduced on the Platinum (O) diesel variant of the Alcazar and Hyundai has skipped this option for the petrol variant.

  • Seven-seater Platinum (O) diesel-AT costs Rs 15,000 lesser than six-seater version
  • Platinum (O) only automatic variant to offer six and seven-seater layout
  • Alcazar is available in three trims – Premium, Platinum and Signature

Hyundai Alcazar Platinum (O): what’s new?

New to the Platinum (O) trim, where (O) denotes an automatic version, is a seven-seater bench layout. This new variant, which costs Rs 15,000 lesser than the six-seater Platinum (O), is the only automatic that offers the flexibility of six or seven-seater layouts.

The new seven-seater variant carries over all equipment that’s offered with the mid-spec Platinum (O) trim as standard. This includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system, 360-degree camera and more.

However, with the seven-seater layout, the Alcazar Platinum (O) loses out on the floor-mounted central console that houses a wireless charger, cup-holders and storage bin like in the six-seater version.

The Alcazar puts out 115hp and 250Nm from a 1.5-litre diesel engine that comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Here’s a price list of the Hyundai Alcazar, summarising the variants and seating layouts.

Hyundai Alcazar Platinum (O) seven-seater: rivals

The Hyundai Alcazar rivals the likes of the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. Compared to the Alcazar, Tata Safari’s mid-spec seven-seater XTA+ trim is priced at Rs 20.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Safari is also offered with a diesel-AT powertrain, although it’s not as feature-rich as the Hyundai.

Meanwhile, the MG Hector Plus diesel does not have an automatic gearbox option. However, for a similar price as the Alcazar, one can opt for the second-from-top Hector Plus Select trim that comes with a seven-seater layout and is priced at Rs 19.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The top-spec Hector Plus Sharp only comes in a six-seater layout. Even the Hector Plus Select isn’t as feature rich as the Alcazar Platinum (O).
