The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV has been launched in India with introductory prices starting at Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Citroen’s debut model for the Indian market, the C5 Aircross was expected to launch last year though the carmaker pushed back the launch owing to the pandemic. Citroen opened bookings for the SUV last month with early customers – those who booked by April 6 – able to avail of a complementary 5 year maintenance package.

    • Available in two variants – Feel and Shine
    • Powered by a 2.0-litre diesel developing 177hp and 400Nm

Citroen C5 Aircross: Engines and mechanicals

While available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines in international markets, the India-spec C5 Aircross is available with a sole 2.0-litre diesel engine. The unit puts out 177hp and a notable 400Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The powertrain is rated at 18.6kpl.

The C5 additionally also gets Citroen’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion-equipped suspension system that is said to be able to filter out bumps and dips in the road and provide occupants with a suppler ride. You can read more about it and our driving impressions of the C5 Aircross here.

    Citroen C5 Aircross rivals

With a starting price of Rs 29.90 lakh, the C5 Aircross comes across as quite pricey considering the entry level C5 Aircross Feel is priced higher than the fully-loaded 4x4 diesel variants of its chief rivals the Hyundai Tucson* (Rs 24.60-27.33 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi) and the Jeep Compass* (Rs 18.69-28.29 lakh, ex-showroom, India).

The C5 Aircross is being locally assembled from the start with Citroen currently operating 10 La Maison dealerships across the country. The carmaker has also launched a mobile dealership in a bid to increase the brand’s reach to other cities. The C5 Aircross can also be purchased online through Citroen's website.
