Best of 2019: Most viewed car comparison videos

As 2019 draws to a close, everyone is looking towards all the new launches that are to come. We step back and look at the top five most-viewed comparison videos of 2019 on our YouTube channel. These comparisons pit the most anticipated and talked-about cars against each other; and with a quick glance at the list we have compiled below, it becomes abundantly clear just how popular SUVs are (surprise!) in the market right now.

*The view counts are between January 1, 2019 and December 10, 2019.

    5. Mahindra XUV300 vs Ford EcoSport vs Tata Nexon vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza - 4,42,030 views

The sub-four-metre compact SUV segment has become one of the more important segments in our market. The Ford EcoSport was the first car to popularise this segment and the American carmaker has updated the model multiple times along its life cycle, so as to keep it relevant. Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza is the highest-selling model in the segment, while the Tata Nexon is one of the most stylish examples here in addition to being the safest offering in the sub-compact SUV segment. That brings us to the Mahindra XUV300, which attempts to combine the best traits of all the above mentioned cars, in the hope of taking the top spot.

    4. Mahindra Alturas G4 vs Ford Endeavour vs Toyota Fortuner – 5,15,037 views

When you think of SUVs, one of the first carmakers to come to mind is Mahindra. However for the longest time, the Indian carmaker has had no offering in the large SUV segment. This changed with the introduction of the Alturas G4 – a reworked version of the Mahindra owned Ssangyong’s Rexton G4 – earlier this year. The Alturas G4 aimed to take on the ever-popular Toyota Fortuner, which is known for its ruggedness and reliability, as well as the Ford Endeavour, which is known for its ride, handling and road presence.

    3. Kia Seltos and MG Hector vs every single rival – 5,56,017 views

This year, Kia and MG Motor both entered the Indian automotive market with midsize SUV offerings in a bid to establish themselves in the market. Both the Kia Seltos and the MG Hector created quite a stir with their styling, features, pricing and overall value proposition. However, the segment they entered was already very competitive and populated with models like the current segment leader, Hyundai Creta, Renault’s Duster and Captur, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and the Nissan Kicks.

    2. MG Hector vs Tata Harrier – 7,52,075 views

In the short time that the MG Hector has been in our market, it has made quite a name for itself due to the extensive features, space and value it offers. Tata’s offering in the midsize SUV segment – the Harrier – was also launched this year; it prioritised space too, and was a value proposition in itself. Tata has even used Land Rover Discovery Sport’s platform as a base for the Harrier, which adds another layer to the model's appeal and reassurance.

    1. Tata Harrier vs Jeep Compass vs Mahindra XUV500 - 10,98,567 views

The Harrier is Tata’s offering in the midsize SUV segment and in order to make a mark in the competitive segment, Tata went all out with the Harrier in terms of platform (which is derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport), features, quality and price. However, the Harrier faces stiff competition form its direct rivals, which includes the Jeep Compass – a great all-round package that features very good build quality. The Mahindra XUV500 is another rival that has been a popular choice amongst its competitors, even though it's technically right at the edge of the segment, being a seven-seater. The XUV500 is also spacious, practical and a reasonably well-equipped option in its segment.
