The only real peer to the Norton Atlas available currently is the Kawasaki Versys 650, which comfortably blows past your Rs 7 lakh budget, limiting your choice to waiting for the Atlas. The new Norton ADV looks very impressive on paper, but we'd recommend you take the sensible and patient route and wait for some time after the bike is launched before purchasing it, so any teething issues that do arise can be ironed out by the time you are an owner.

We have not yet ridden either the Norton Atlas or the BMW F 450 GS, so we can't comment on the riding dynamics of either machine. We would suggest you wait until you can see multiple reviews of both bikes before purchasing either one to err on the side of caution.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is one of the most sorted sub-500cc, single-cylinder adventure tourers in India and will make for a good step up from your Dominar. While the performance on tap will largely be the same, the Himalayan's suspension and seating comfort, as well as overall quality levels, will definitely feel a tangible notch higher than the Dominar's. We'd recommend you go for the Himalayan right now over the upcoming Norton Atlas because the latter is likely to be in a different price bracket entirely. Also, its India launch timing and service reach remain shrouded in mystery, and for a daily rider, those legitimate concerns matter more than a feel-good brochure.

The latest-gen KTM 390 Adventure is a feature-rich and capable machine in the ADV bike space and makes for a good purchase. KTM India is unaffected by whatever financial troubles its parent company was going through some time ago. Bajaj has already made a significant investment in the Austrian brand to ensure it continues on and gets back to full strength in all regards soon. Other options to consider in this class are the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Honda NX500. Do bear in mind that the Honda is significantly more expensive than the two single-cylinder machines mentioned above But also brings twin-cylinder smoothness, Japanese reliability and low running costs to the table. A test ride of these three will help you make an informed decision regarding your purchase. TVS hasn't disclosed any plans to enter the 400-500cc space anytime soon with an ADV. Although the 585cc Norton Atlas - made entirely in Hosur - will be launching in India this year.
