Based on the SAIC Group’s Maxus D90 offered in markets like China, Australia and the Middle East, the upcoming MG Majestor is a full-size body-on-frame SUV. The 2026 MG Majestor is slated to become the brand’s new flagship offering in India, and would thus be positioned above the existing Gloster. Let us look at what we know about the Majestor before its launch on February 12.

1. What engine will the 2026 MG Majestor get?

The new model will likely be powered by a twin-turbo diesel engine.

MG Majestor side profile

Under the mildly chiselled bonnet of the MG Majestor is likely to be the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the Gloster, where it produces 215hp and 478Nm of torque. This twin-turbo diesel mill is hooked up to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic, driving all four wheels via an on-demand four-wheel-drive (4WD) system. The upcoming Majestor would possibly use this same powertrain setup, whilst featuring MG’s ‘All Terrain System’ with rock, snow, mud and sand modes.

The MG Gloster is also available with another 2.0-litre diesel engine; this time with just one turbocharger. Producing 161hp and 373Nm of torque in the Gloster 2WD variant, it is only available with a rear-wheel-drive configuration. However, this powertrain is less likely to make it to the new Majestor.

2. What will the 2026 MG Majestor look like?

The Majestor borrows plenty of styling cues from the Maxus D90 SUV.

MG Majestor front

Like the Gloster before it, the new MG Majestor will occupy a fair amount of space out on the road. While MG Motor India has kept the dimensions of its upcoming SUV hidden, the Maxus D90 sold in markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia measures 5,046mm in length, 2,016mm in width and stands 1,876mm tall. However, it remains to be seen if these figures translate over to the India-spec car.

Spy shots aside, MG previewed the Majestor at the 2025 Auto Expo. The front fascia houses an oversized grille with thin vertical LEDs on either side and a grey & black trim protruding out of the bumper below. This bumper also features LED headlights that are vertically arranged, whilst the twin-piece signature LED DRLs are situated further up near the bonnet.

The new Majestor gets black plastic cladding on its wheel arches, deep wheel wells, and some more plastic cladding along the lower portion of the doors and bumpers. Where recent spy shots showed the new MG SUV painted in a mono-tone white shade, the car showcased at the Auto Expo sported a dual-tone exterior with a contrasting black roof. The squared-off rear end has ‘Morris Garages’ written in bold font, with a connected-LED element right below. These full-width taillights are bound to accentuate the width of this SUV even further.

3. How will be the interior design of the 2026 MG Majestor?

The interior is expected to be at least as spacious and premium as the Gloster.

While there are no official pictures from MG of the Majestor’s interior, its design could be similar to that of the Maxus D90. The latter comes with a two-tone dashboard and leather seats, plus faux metallic trim and a grab handle in front of the co-driver. Some of the premium touches, such as the knurled dials on the rear HVAC unit, soft-touch materials on the dashboard, centre console and doors, can be expected to make it to the India-spec Majestor. MG could also offer its new three-row SUV in 6- and 7-seater configurations.

4. What features will be offered with the 2026 MG Majestor?

Some of the key features expected with the new Majestor are a motion-sensing tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a 64-colour ambient lighting system. Other equipment that could come to this MG SUV include paddle shifters, an electronic parking brake, selectable terrain & drive modes, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12.3-inch touch-infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and wireless charging.

Enhancing comfort further could be heated & cooled seats for the first and second rows, with possibly a massaging function for the driver’s seat. The safety features of the 2026 MG Majestor should include 360-degree cameras, 6 airbags, front & rear parking sensors, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist. These will be accompanied by hill-hold control, hill-descent control, electronic stability programme, traction control system, and an automatic brake-hold function.

5. What is the expected price of the 2026 MG Majestor?

Considering it will become the brand’s next flagship SUV, the MG Majestor will be pricier than the Gloster. For reference, the MG Gloster is priced at between Rs 38.33 lakh and Rs 43.16 lakh for the entry-level Sharp and top Black Storm trims, respectively. The closest rivals of the Majestor will be the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and the Skoda Kodiaq.
