BMW India will soon launch a new variant of the X3 SUV: the 30 xDrive M Sport Pro. Slightly perplexing nomenclature aside, the upcoming X3 variant will introduce a more powerful state of tune for the existing petrol engine, as well as some sporty exterior fitments. Uprated 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine; quicker claimed performance figures

The 30 xDrive M Sport Pro variant will be powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the entry-level X3 20 xDrive M Sport variant but with a higher output of 258hp and 400Nm – up 68hp and 90Nm. The 48V mild hybrid system, 8-speed automatic gearbox and AWD layout have been retained from the 20 xDrive M Sport.

BMW claims a 0-100kph time of 6.3 seconds for the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro, which is 1.5 seconds quicker than the 20 xDrive M Sport. Fuel efficiency for the upcoming X3 variant stands at a claimed 14.61kpl.

On the outside, the new X3 variant sports a few changes as part of an M Sport Professional cosmetic package. These include a gloss-black finish for the grille and exterior trim pieces, M badging, red brake calipers and larger 20-inch alloy wheels; lower X3 variants are equipped with 19-inchers. A new Brooklyn Grey colour option is also available for the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro.

The X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro is identical to the lower variants in terms of equipment, so you get a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a head-up display, a powered tailgate, a 15-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, powered and ventilated front seats, a memory function for the driver’s seat, ADAS, 3-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and more.

BMW will launch the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro in India on February 16, and pre-bookings are open. The ex-showroom price is expected to land in the Rs 75 lakh-78 lakh region. The luxury SUV will continue to rival the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Audi Q5.
