Hi Autocar Team, thank you for answering my previous question in such a detailed manner. You had recommended the A4 as first preference with the Kodiaq also to be considered. If I am open to buying used cars then that opens up many more options as well. My dad and I are huge BMW fans and I think the previous gen X3 is the perfect luxury car. Great interiors and exterior, amazing performance and handling, has all the features we need, is spacious enough for a family of 4 and has more than enough boot space for long trips. The only downside might be a stiffer ride than the A4. I'm looking at used X3s that are less than 4 years old, has run less than 40k KM's, and is still under extended warranty. If possible I'd prefer to buy from a BMW authorised used car dealership. My main concern is the maintainance and repair costs a Used X3 might come with vs an A4 given than it's a segment higher with more expensive spare parts and has already run 30-40kms. In your experience is it worth risking the peace of mind that comes with a new car purchase to go for your perfect dream car instead. A new A4 and a used X3 might cost the same in terms of purchase, but I'm worried if the used X3 might cost much more over the long term.
Based on your requirements, second hand BMW X3s of that particular age are going for about Rs. 50 lakh on average. This is based on prices on BMW's own used car listings and the listings on Spinny (https://www.spinny.com/used-x3-cars/s/). An Audi A4 is about Rs. 4 to 14 lakh (on-road Delhi) more expensive than this when you factor in the on-road price. The used BMW will not be significantly more expensive to maintain than the new Audi. The money you save going with the used BMW can easily pay for the slightly higher maintenance costs, in addition to all the benefits you listed.
