Hi, could you please suggest first car for my family. I am confused between Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and Nissan Tekton for my office commute. I am looking for a trouble free value for money product. Thanks.
For a first family car, I’d go for the Honda Elevate. It’s the most straightforward, easy-to-live-with choice here, with a proven 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a smooth CVT option. Honda’s established service network and reputation for durability should also appeal if hassle-free ownership is your priority. The Kushaq is the driver’s car, but its turbo-petrol engines are more complex than the Elevate’s naturally aspirated unit. The Nissan Tekton is a strong value proposition, though Nissan’s service network is not as extensive as Honda’s. And while its 1.3-litre turbo-petrol makes good power, the naturally aspirated Elevate may feel more predictable in stop-start traffic. One important update: the Elevate facelift is due to launch on October 6, just days away. It’s expected to bring styling and feature changes while retaining the same engine and gearbox options, so it may be worth waiting to see the final pricing and equipment before deciding. The Elevate may not be the most exciting SUV here, but for a family’s first car and a 65 per cent city commute, it looks like the sensible pick.
I was previously driving a Dzire and now want to switch to a new car. I can afford up to Rs. 16-20 lakh. I am looking for better interior comfort and a powerful engine, and an automatic is a must. Mileage is not a major concern. My options are the Seltos, Creta, Sierra, and Tekton. Please help me choose the better option.
Go for the Kia Seltos turbo petrol automatic. Coming from a Dzire, you will immediately notice the step up in comfort, refinement and overall premium feel. The Seltos offers a well-balanced package with a comfortable cabin, good rear seat space and a strong turbo petrol engine that delivers the performance you are looking for. The automatic gearbox is smooth and well suited to both city and highway driving, and Kia's service network is strong enough to make ownership relatively hassle-free.The Hyundai Creta is a very similar car mechanically, but the Seltos feels slightly more premium inside and offers marginally better rear seat space. The Tata Sierra is a genuinely interesting alternative with a spacious cabin and a comfortable ride, but it does not have the same long-term ownership track record as the Kia. The Nissan Tekton is a good value proposition, but Nissan's service network is not as extensive as Kia's, which can be a consideration for long-term ownership.Overall, the Seltos turbo petrol automatic strikes the best balance between comfort, performance and ownership experience in your budget.
I am looking for a sub-4-metre SUV for long-term ownership that is also fun to drive. My daily office commute is around 60km, with occasional highway trips, and good mileage is important. I have shortlisted the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5, Honda Elevate and Nissan Tekton. Which would be the ideal fit?
Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI. It is the most fun-to-drive car on this shortlist, with strong performance, a responsive turbo petrol engine and a genuinely engaging driving experience. For a 60km daily commute and occasional highway trips, it strikes a good balance between driving enjoyment and efficiency, especially if you drive it sensibly. The Honda Elevate is the more sensible long-term ownership choice, with Honda’s reputation for reliability and low maintenance, but it is not as engaging to drive, and the naturally aspirated petrol engine lacks the punch of the Taigun’s turbo petrol. The Nissan Tekton is a solid all-rounder, but its 1.3 turbo petrol won't be as fuel efficient as the Taigun. If you want a car that will keep you engaged on your daily commute and still be reliable over the long term, the Taigun 1.5 TSI is the best fit.If you want maximum peace of mind and are willing to compromise on driving excitement, the Honda car mentioned above is the safer choice.
I’m 6’2” and my top priority is a comfortable driving posture, especially good thigh support and seating position. My current Grand i10 has become quite uncomfortable during longer drives. I absolutely loved the seating position and overall comfort of XUV 700 and I can say it is probably the best car that I have driven. However, I’m unsure about managing something that big in size in Bangalore traffic. I have taken the test drive of the new Tekton, but still found the seating position a bit awkward. Should I simply go for the XUV 7XO, or are there other petrol options that offer similar seating comfort while being easier to manage in the city? I want the car mostly for weekend city drives, with an outstation trip once every 2 months. My total running is around 3,000-4,000 km/year, so I am not considering a diesel car.
Go for the Mahindra XUV 7XO petrol automatic. Your priority is clear: a comfortable driving position with good thigh support and a commanding seating position. The XUV 7XO delivers exactly that, and at 6’2” you will appreciate the generous seat travel, supportive cushioning and the overall sense of space.Your concern about Bangalore traffic is understandable, but the XUV 7XO is not as intimidating as it looks. The steering is light at low speeds, the visibility is good and the automatic gearbox makes stop-go traffic far less tiring. Once you get used to the dimensions, it is perfectly manageable in the city. The Tekton is a good car, but the seating position is not as commanding and the overall comfort is not at the same level as the XUV 7XO.
I want to know which car under 12 lakh is suitable as per my requirements listed below. I only drive on weekends in Delhi's traffic. I want to finalize either Nissan Tekton base model 1.0 litre turbo engine and Brezza Turbo VXI. Is buying Turbo engine 3 cylinder not a good decision as I drive very less and that too within the city and less. I have heard that a turbo car requires more maintenance, is less fuel efficient, has carbon blockage, handling its wear and tear is also expensive compared to an NA engine .
Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi. With your usage pattern which is very low running, mostly weekend city driving in Delhi traffic - a simple, naturally aspirated petrol engine is the better choice. It will be easier to live with, more predictable in stop-start conditions and generally lower maintenance over time. The Brezza is also a proven product with Maruti’s strong service network, which is a big advantage for long-term ownership. The Nissan Tekton is a good car, but the 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder is not the ideal fit for your usage. Turbo petrol engines are at their best on highways, where the extra performance benefits come into play. In city driving with very low mileage, you are unlikely to see those benefits, and the engine can feel a bit laggy at low speeds. On your second question, the concerns around turbo petrol engines are often overstated. Modern turbo petrols are reliable, but they are more complex than naturally aspirated engines and can be more expensive to repair if something does go wrong. The key point is that they are not the ideal for low-mileage, city-only usage. The Brezza VXi is the safer, more sensible choice for your requirements.
