Is it worth buying Nissan Gravite? I currently own a 2015 Grand i10 Magna and am planning to buy a new car. Instead of a 5-seater, I am planning to buy a 7-seater within a fixed budget. However, I am confused whether I will enjoy 1 litre engine or not ?

The Nissan Gravite is a sensible upgrade from your 2015 Grand i10 Magna, especially if you need a 7-seater on a budget. The 1.0-litre petrol engine is however down on power and delivers decent performance in city driving if driven in a sedate and relaxed manner. Also with a full load of passengers and luggage, it can feel strained on highways and overtaking requires more planning. So look at it as a relaxed daily commuter and it should be fine. The Gravite's biggest strength is its value proposition as it offers genuine 7-seat practicality at a very accessible price point. However, if you regularly do long highway trips with a full family, you will notice the engine's limitations and you might want to consider upping your budget for something like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Overall, the Gravite is a good budget-friendly 7-seater, but be realistic about your expectations from the 1.0-litre engine.

I am on a tight budget of Rs. 10-15 lakh and am looking for a 7-seater vehicle. It will mostly be used for city driving in Mumbai, with occasional highway trips. Please suggest whether the Nissan Gravite AMT is a good buy, or would you recommend something else?

For a tight budget of Rs. 10-15 lakh and a requirement for a 7-seater primarily for Mumbai city use with occasional highway runs, the Nissan Gravite AMT is actually a sensible choice. This Nissan car is one of the most affordable 7-seaters in the market and offers a genuinely usable third row, which is not always the case in this price bracket. The AMT gearbox is not the smoothest in stop-start traffic, but it is manageable and keeps the car within budget. That said, if you can stretch your budget slightly, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the better long-term ownership proposition. It is more refined, more comfortable and has a proven track record for reliability and low running costs. The Ertiga's third row is also more comfortable for longer journeys, and Maruti's service network is a big advantage. If budget is absolutely non-negotiable, the Gravite is a perfectly reasonable choice. If you can stretch a little, the Ertiga is the car you will be happier with over the next 5-10 years.

I am a 5-foot-tall woman with a minor shortening in one leg. Is the newly launched Nissan Gravite AMT a good choice for me? By the way, I used to drive the Maruti Alto LX (manual) comfortably.

Verified

Yes, the Nissan Gravite AMT can be a good choice for you, but with a few important considerations. This Nissan car is a compact MPV with a relatively low bonnet line and good all-round visibility, which will help you feel confident behind the wheel. The AMT gearbox also makes city driving much easier compared to a manual. However, the Gravite has a slightly higher seating position than your old Alto, and the clutch pedal travel on the manual version is on the longer side. Since you are considering the AMT, this is less of a concern, but it is still worth checking the seating position and pedal reach. We would strongly recommend a test drive with the seat height adjusted to its maximum setting and, if needed, using a seat cushion to ensure you have a clear view of the bonnet and comfortable access to the pedals. If you find the Gravite's seating position too high, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R AMT or Celerio AMT are also worth considering, as they have lower seating positions and are easier to adapt to coming from an Alto. Overall, the Gravite AMT is a practical and comfortable choice, but the final decision should be based on how comfortable you feel in the driver's seat.

Suggest a budget friendly 7-seater car under 10 lakh for occassional trips.

Go for the Renault Triber or its sister car the Nissan Gravite. They are both economical to buy and run and offer genuine three row seating comfort. At your budget you will also get the top end variant which comes very well equipped with features like a touchscreen music system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera, NFC card based central locking, rain sensing wipers and other bits. The only downside is the 1.0 litre engine is not really powerful and you have to work it hard in instances like overtaking, driving in the hills or when your are fully loaded. If this is a concern, opt for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The engine is more powerful and easily manages everyday driving tasks even when fully loaded. Its also larger and thus would give you more room inside however at Rs. 10 lakh you would get the base version only.

I am looking to purchase my first vehicle for a family of five. My expected monthly running is approximately 500-700 km, and my budget is Rs. 8 lakh. Could you recommend options that align with these requirements?

Verified

Go for the Renault Triber or its sister car the Nissan Gravite. For a family of five on a tight Rs. 8 lakh budget, nothing gives you this much space and flexibility. You get real rear-seat room, easy access, and with the third row folded you have a huge boot for bags, strollers, or a weekly shop. The third row is quite useable too should you have extra passengers. Your running is modest, so the petrol suits fine, and it is easy to drive in the city. Lower and mid trims usually fit your budget in many cities, and there is an automatic option if you want it.The issue is performance. With five on board and luggage, it feels slow on highways or during overtaking. Cabin quality is simple too, but it is practical and tough enough for daily use.If you prefer a 5-seat hatchback and want something more polished, look at the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It is roomy for five, very efficient, and cheap to run, though the boot is smaller than the Triber with seats folded. If you want a higher driving position, the Tata Punch is worth a look, but shoulder room for three at the back is tighter.
