Hi, I have owned a Maruti Ignis for seven years and want to upgrade to an SUV with a budget of โน17 lakh. My must-haves are an automatic torque-converter or CVT transmission and ventilated seats. Which car should I choose? Also, should I wait for the Brezza facelift in case it offers ventilated seats?
Considering your requirements, the Hyundai Venue in HX10 guise will be a good option. It gets a turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and has a lengthy feature list, including ventilated front seats.
However, if you can stretch your budget a bit, you can also get the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta variant that gets you ventilated front seats and a much bigger car than the Venue.
It has a smooth torque converter automatic gearbox, a comfy ride and peace of mind that comes with the Maruti badge.
The Brezza facelift does not have a known launch time at the moment. Also worth noting is that the Grand Vitara is being offered with discounts, and you can strike a good deal now.

I want to buy a new car. My monthly running is around 4,000 km. Which option will be more budget-friendly for me, EV or hybrid? I am currently driving a Swift Dzire diesel. Please suggest which car I should buy.
If you have access to home charging and there's a good network of EV chargers around you, an electric car makes sense as it will give you lower running costs than hybrid or ICE vehicles. But if you don't have consistent access to EV chargers and you frequent road trips, you'd find more value in a strong hybrid.
Since your running is so high, you'll appreciate a strong hybrid's frugal nature as well. As for your options, there are currently three strong hybrid midsize SUVs on sale that all share the same powertrain - the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
If you want a sedan, there's the Honda City e:HEV, or if you want an MPV, there's the Toyota Innova HyCross and the Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

My local city driving is almost 800 km every month. I go on a 2,500 km intercity highway drive every three months. I am looking for a suitable replacement for my Ford EcoSport TDCI. I have shortlisted the Maruti (Grand Vitara/Victoris) and the Toyota (Urban Cruiser Hyryder), but I am confused. Please suggest a car that is reliable, fuel-efficient, and has good maintenance support nationwide. I am looking for a perfect replacement for the Ford EcoSport, if one exists.
With an annual usage close to 20,000km, it is better to opt for the hybrid versions of the options you've shortlisted. Not only will these be very fuel-efficient, but their electric motors make these cars feel very peppy and responsive too.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the newest car and, being backed by Maruti's widespread network, maintenance and support should be a hassle-free experience. The only differentiating factor between the Victoris and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is styling, as well as some small features, like their touchscreen and audio systems, the Victoris' being a bit superior.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is merely a badge-engineered Grand Vitara, but it gets brown interiors, while the Victoris and Grand Vitara get black interiors. This, along with its styling, could be taken into consideration while deciding between the three. Either way, all three share their powertrain and most other components, and you won't go wrong with either.

I have an offer for a 2024 Grand Vitara Sigma with 3,000 km for Rs 12 lakh. When compared to a new Baleno Delta or a new i20 base variant priced at around Rs 8.5 lakh, which should I buy? Finance is not an issue, and running and usage are also not a concern. Should I buy the used Grand Vitara or a new Baleno/i20? Kindly advise.
The on-road price of a brand new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.5L petrol MT Sigma in many cities is Rs 12.50-13.00 lakh. Simply going by these numbers, Rs 12 lakh for a used 2024 car isn't a good value at all. Sure, the Grand Vitara is a superior car to a Maruti Baleno, but you will need to bargain a lot harder for a better deal.

Planning to buy a new car. Which car is better: Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara AT petrol, Toyota Hyryder AT petrol, or Maruti Suzuki Victoris AT petrol? The first two models are expected to get a facelift.
While the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder are technically the same car and share many exterior panels and interior parts, the Suzuki Victoris too is technically the same but completely re-bodied inside and out. Thus, as far as mechanics go, there's nothing much between them, and you could pick anyone without going wrong.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris would perhaps have the edge, given that it is newer and you would enjoy the novelty factor, and it could retain its value in the used market better. Plus, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are likely to get an update, though no firm dates have been released by the company.

Which is the best mid-size SUV? My options are the Hyundai Venue and the Hyundai Exter. My criteria is an automatic car. Should I go for a second-hand Grand Vitara or Toyota Hyryder instead? My daily running is hardly 5,000 km a year. Please suggest which is best for me.
Since you are open to buying a pre-owned car and have a very low running, we would recommend you go ahead with this option. The two used SUVs you have selected are essentially the same, both the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are technically identical, and so our suggestion would be to buy the one that has lower running, and is in an overall better condition.
Also, do not bother paying a higher price for the strong hybrid option, again given that your running is very low.
Given that the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Hyryder are relatively new, you may not find plenty of used options; thus, you could also look at a Hyundai Creta, examples of which you will find aplenty. The 1.5 litre petrol with the CVT auto gearbox would be a good fit for you.

I currently own an automatic Fortuner used mainly for highway runs and need a new automatic car (strictly โน15 lakh on-the-road, Chennai) for family use. My driving will be 70% city / 30% highway. It must be a wide, proven car that comfortably fits 2 adults + 1 teen in the rear, from established brands (no risky new marques), with strong safety and dependable performance. Iโm deciding between GV, Victoris, Hyryder, and XUV 3XO - sub-4-metre cars wonโt meet my rear-seat space needs. Which should I choose?
The XUV 3XO you have shortlisted is a sub-4-metre SUV, but don't rule it out as it has a wide and spacious back seat.
In fact, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which is also a sub-4-metre SUV, also has a wider back seat and more headroom than its larger siblings, the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, while having the same petrol engine and 6-speed AT.
What's more, you will get a fully loaded Brezza ZXi+ AT for the same price as a lower spec Victoris VXi AT, and within your budget of Rs 15 lakh, on road.
If you're fine with Kia as a brand, and don't mind the polarising exterior look, the Kia Syros 1.0 T-GDi HTX DCT is an excellent option in your price range, with superb interior space.

Hi, I drive between Pune and Mumbai at least 16 times a month, with a monthly running of around 5,000 km. I was exploring an EV like the 9e or the Harrier for this kind of usage, but I still want to consider alternative options, maybe a hybrid or a diesel. What would you suggest? If you are comfortable with an EV and have easy access to charging, the electric options are sure worth a look. Your running costs will be lowest with an electric car. The Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e are good options within your budget. We did find the Mahindra XEV 9e to be the more complete package. Among diesel options, the Mahindra XUV 700 AT is a good buy for your needs. It's got a strong diesel engine, a smooth auto gearbox and is generally a good highway car. The Tata Harrier/Safari AT are also good but don't quite match the XUV on refinement. You could also consider the Hyundai Creta AT. While it's not as punchy as the XUV 700, the engine-gearbox combo is really good and fuel economy is a highlight.
Hybrid options include the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Victoris, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. There are also mid-spec versions of the Toyota Innova HyCross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto within your budget.

I'm looking to buy a C-segment SUV (like the Creta or Seltos). My running is low (~7,500 km/yr) but may rise if I switch jobs. I want a reliable, safe vehicle that I wonโt need to upgrade soon. Driving is ~75% city, with a highway trip once every two months. My budget is โน15 lakh max on-road. Iโm waiting for the Seltos and Sierra, but plan to buy in about six months - which car should I choose?"
We are not in a position to give you a definitive answer just yet. Prices for the Tata Sierra will only be out on the 25th of November, and we have yet to drive the model. Do stay tuned to our website and YouTube channel for the review that goes up in the coming days.
As for the Seltos, Kia will showcase the new generation model on December 10. We expect sales to start by the first quarter of 2026.
Among the current lot of SUVs on offer, the mild hybrid versions of the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara are good options that are reliable and low on maintenance. The Hyundai Creta is also a good choice, but it is slightly pricier to maintain than the Toyota and Maruti cars.

Iโm confused between the Maruti Brezza ZXi and the Grand Vitara Delta. I need a car for both city and highway use. Which one should I pick?
There is over two lakh rupee difference between the two Maruti Suzuki cars youโve shortlisted. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza in the ZXi variant is more affordable, better equipped, and, being lighter yet using the same engine, feels quicker of the two.
On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara offers a bigger boot and better rear seat space. If you are considering the Grand Vitara, we would suggest looking at the Maruti Suzuki Victoris instead. It is essentially the same car but refreshed aesthetically, feels more premium inside, offers more features, and is slightly more affordable.
