Hi, I do not drive myself and use a chauffeur-driven car. Usage is mostly within the city with occasional highway trips. The car is used about two days a week. My budget is ₹12 lakh, and low yearly maintenance is very important. Which car would you recommend?

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is a good choice for your requirements. It is economical to run and maintain, and promises a stress-free ownership experience. What also works in the Brezza's favour is a roomy enough cabin, comfortable seats and plush ride comfort.
If you are open to the MPV body style, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is also worth a look. It's comfortable and works surprisingly well as a chauffeur-driven vehicle. If you want a spacious vehicle within a small footprint, there's also the Kia Syros that you could look at. However, maintenance will be costlier than with a Brezza.

I have been using a Datsun and found it reliable, including for highway use. My annual running is around 10,000km, mostly on highways. I am now looking for a 7-seater MPV with reliable performance for family use, good fuel efficiency and an on-road budget of ₹12-15 lakh. Please suggest.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a safe and reliable 7-seater MPV, and is expected to be very fuel-efficient too. We'd also recommend you try the Kia Carens Clavis 1.5 Petrol. It has a slightly more upmarket interior, more features, and better cabin space compared to a Maruti Ertiga. The HTE O variant is well-equipped and should easily fit your budget.

Which 7-seater car should I buy within a budget of ₹8 to ₹10 lakh?

The Renault Triber is the best 7-seater option if you want a car with ample cabin space, practicality, and value for money. The fully-loaded petrol-manual version of the Triber will easily fall within your budget. But if you regularly drive on the highway with a full load of passengers and luggage, the Triber's performance will feel sluggish.
In that case, you could consider the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. You will miss a few features when compared to a Triber, however, its relatively more effortless performance makes it a good choice.

I live in Hyderabad and drive around 20-30km daily with my wife. Due to the nature of our work, I also need to carry goods in my car, so it must be spacious yet suitable as a family vehicle. My budget is ₹10-12 lakh. I am not interested in fancy features and would prefer something practical and fuel-efficient.

Given your requirements, you should consider the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Ertiga comes with all the necessary features like touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels and automatic climate control, while also providing a spacious cabin with a third row of seats. The boot space with all rows up is 209 litres, which can be expanded to 550 litres by folding the third row.
This Maruti Suzuki car is powered by a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine that can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Claimed fuel efficiency stands at 20.51kpl for the manual and 20.3kpl for the automatic. There's even a CNG version on offer with a 5-speed manual that has a claimed efficiency of 26.11km/kg. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga price in Hyderabad start at Rs 10.58 lakh and go up to Rs 15.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

I want to buy a seven-seater family car with a budget of around ₹15 lakh. Which one should I choose? I’m not a big fan of the Ertiga.

We'd suggest you check the Kia Carens Clavis. It's a very well-packaged MPV that offers good space for seven passengers. The Carens Clavis also feels superior to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in its cabin quality.
The base 1.5-litre petrol offers reasonable performance, but if you will drive on highways often, you should consider the stronger turbo-petrol whose added performance counts for a lot. Do note, your budget will allow the standard 1.5-petrol in higher HTK trim and the 1.5 turbo-petrol in lower HTE(O) trim. Features that you get on the HTK but not on the HTE(O) include auto climate control, front parking sensors, and LED DRLs, among others.

I currently own a Ritz VDi and am considering the Ertiga CNG. My daily running is around 25 km, with an annual usage of about 10,000 km. I have a family of five and am not considering diesel due to DPF-related issues. Is the Ertiga CNG a good option in terms of running costs and comfort?

Yes, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG is a good choice if you are looking for a practical and spacious family car with low running costs. What's nice is that being a factory-fitted CNG, you are backed by a company warranty too.
Plus, having a third row offers the flexibility to ferry more passengers occasionally, or simply fold down the rear seats to accommodate more luggage.

I want to buy a car with better suspension and one that's easy to get into because my mother has knee problems.

Without knowing your budget, it is hard to suggest the right car for your needs. However, the best options to consider are the Kia Carens Clavis and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The MPVs have relatively low floors and large rear doors that will make getting in and out more convenient for your mother.
Also, both of these cars deliver a comfortable ride. The Kia Carens Clavis does have a softer and more absorbent ride quality, especially on versions that ride on 15-inch wheels.

I currently own a Wagon R CNG, but I want to move to a comfortable 7-seater car for my family with low maintenance costs. Usage will mainly be within the city for office commuting, along with some outstation trips.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a good option to consider. It is spacious, comfortable and easy to drive. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is refined and offers good performance, and the CNG option is also available if you want to keep running costs low.
The Ertiga is also quite reliable and has a strong service network, which should make it easy to maintain.

I want to upgrade to a seven-seater, but I am confused between a new Triber or Ertiga, and a used XL6. My usage is mostly in the city with occasional highway trips. My priorities are low maintenance and good mileage. Please suggest. Also, I would like to know what good automatic car options are available under Rs 8 to 9 lakh. Thank you.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is a more premium version of the Ertiga, and it is based on the same platform. However, the XL6 is a 6-seater, thus consider between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga or the Renault Triber, both of which are 7-seaters.
The Renault Triber is a sub-4m MPV, though, so while it is more affordable, it is smaller than the Ertiga, and the 1.0 litre engine is not powerful, especially so when fully loaded.
As for your query about a good automatic car under Rs 9 lakh, you can consider the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, or if you would like an SUV body style, the Nissan Magnite would be a good choice.

I currently own an Ertiga Diesel VDI and am planning to change my car. I want a 7-seater vehicle with an automatic transmission and would like suggestions on suitable options.

The most logical option for you would be to upgrade to the current Ertiga, which is a generation ahead of the one you currently have.

The current Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is more spacious than your model and comes with a smooth 6-speed automatic too.

However, there is no diesel option available like in the previous generation Ertiga that you own. So if you are looking for an MPV with the low running cost of diesel, the next best option, if you have the budget, is the Kia Carens Clavis diesel. It comes with a 1.5 diesel automatic, coupled to a smooth-shifting six-speed auto transmission.
