I just saw kia opened pre-bookings for the carnival hybrid and this is the first time the limousine+ trim's getting anything other than diesel. apparently it's the same hybrid setup as the sorento, just a stronger motor. No price out yet though, which is annoying because that's kind of the only thing that will decide if it makes sense over the diesel.

I want to buy a 7- or 8-seater car. I currently own an XUV500 and am considering the Toyota Hycross, Kia Carnival, MG Majestor, and Toyota Fortuner. I am a bit confused. The Hycross lacks some premium features, the Carnival feels too long for city driving, the MG Majestor seems like the perfect choice, but I am unsure about MG's reliability and after-sales service, and the Fortuner is not very comfortable, especially in the middle and last rows. Which one would you recommend based on these requirements?

Pick the Toyota Innova HyCross. It is the only one here that is easy to drive and park in the city, yet still seats 7 or 8 in real comfort on trips. The hybrid shines in slow traffic, so your running costs drop, and it feels lighter and simpler to handle than the very long Carnival. Your comfort worry is also solved. The HyCross has a roomy middle row and a genuinely usable last row, with a comfier ride than the Fortuner’s ladder-frame setup. Your family will be happier day to day, not just on highways. You also get Toyota’s service reach and resale, which answers the trust question you have with MG. That peace of mind matters over the entire ownership period. It will not feel as plush as a Carnival or Majestor inside, and yes, you will miss out on some features, but the basics are spot on. If you still want that “limo” feel and are mostly chauffeur-driven with easy parking, the Carnival can work. For mixed city use with family comfort and low hassle, go for the HyCross.

I am confused between the HyCross ZX, Skoda Kodiaq Lounge, and a used Kia Carnival. My commute is a Delhi-Haridwar round trip every week, covering roughly 500 km. I usually travel with only 2-3 passengers and very rarely drive the car myself. Also, is a new HyCross model expected to launch soon? I already have a car, so this is not an urgent upgrade. Is it worth waiting?

Go for the Innova HyCross ZX. For a chauffeur-driven 500 km Delhi-Haridwar run every week, the strong-hybrid keeps fuel costs low and cruises quietly, which matters when you are in the back seat for hours. The second row is spacious with captain seats, and Toyota’s service reach on that corridor is unmatched, so long-distance peace of mind is high.Skoda Kodiaq Lounge feels more premium and is nicer to sit in, but its petrol thirst will sting with your weekly highway use, and upkeep outside big cities can be fussier. A used Kia Carnival gives the most lounge-like comfort and space, and its diesel suits highways, but you take used-car risks and NCR’s 10-year diesel rule can chop remaining life if the car is a few years old.One caveat on the HyCross ZX: the 18-inch wheels make low-speed bumps a bit firm, and the engine can sound busy if pushed. No clear, confirmed HyCross facelift is around the corner in India, so it is not worth waiting just for that.

Hi sir, I have a dilemma. I own three cars: Toyota Innova 2008 V model, 150,000 km covered and it is in mint condition. Maruti Suzuki Swift 2012 ZDi that has covered 165,000 km , but recently restored to factory specifications at a cost higher than the car's current market value. I also own a Kia Seltos GT Line Plus 2020 that has covered only 6,000 km. I am planning to upgrade. Should I sell the Innova and upgrade to the Toyota Hycross? Would it be wiser to sell both the Innova and the Swift and buy a Kia Carnival? Or should I continue driving these three cars for one more year and wait for the Toyota Hycross facelift? My monthly commute is around 2,000 km, and I prefer a comfortable 7-seater for highway runs.

Sell the Innova and buy the Innova HyCross hybrid now, and keep the Swift and Seltos. Your 2,000 km a month will be far cheaper to run in the HyCross than in a big diesel like the Carnival, and it still gives you a comfy 7 seater with captain seats that is easy to drive long distance.Carnival only makes sense if you regularly carry six or seven adults with lots of luggage and want a true lounge on wheels. It is lovely, but it is huge, pricier to buy, and will drink more fuel on your kind of usage.Waiting a year for a HyCross facelift is not worth it unless you want a specific new feature. Toyota facelifts are usually small changes and prices rarely go down, while you lose a year of savings and comfort.

When will the local assembly of the Kia Carnival start in India?

Verified
21w

The Kia Carnival is already being locally assembled in India, so current pricing reflects duties applicable to semi-knocked down (SKD) kits that are assembled at Kia’s Anantapur plant. At present, the Carnival is offered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, priced at around Rs 59.4 lakh ex-showroom (Limousine Plus variant).Looking ahead, Kia is also preparing to introduce a hybrid version of the Carnival later this year. This variant is expected to be priced under Rs 50 lakh and, importantly, will also be locally assembled. The addition of a hybrid powertrain should broaden the Carnival’s appeal, especially in a market that is gradually shifting towards electrified options while still valuing efficiency and long-distance usability.
