Hyundai Creta FAQs

The 2026 Hyundai Creta feels dated in comparison to newer offerings like the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. As such, it misses out on a lot of new-age features that the rivals offer, while being offered at a similar price compared to the newer rivals. So, even though it is the bestselling midsize SUV, it does not currently offer a lot of value for the price paid.

Detailed price breakup of Hyundai Creta base variant - Petrol E MT in West Tripura is: Ex-Showroom Price - Rs. 10.91 lakh, RTO - Rs. 87.26 thousand, Insurance - Rs. 54.53 thousand, Tax Collected at Source (TCS) - Rs. 10.91 thousand, FASTag - Rs. 600, This makes the total on-road price of Hyundai Creta base variant in West Tripura as Rs. 12.44 lakh.
Detailed price breakup of Hyundai Creta top variant - Diesel King Knight AT in West Tripura is: Ex-Showroom Price - Rs. 20.11 lakh, RTO - Rs. 1.61 lakh, Insurance - Rs. 1.11 lakh, Tax Collected at Source (TCS) - Rs. 20.11 thousand, FASTag - Rs. 600, This makes the total on-road price of Hyundai Creta top variant in West Tripura as Rs. 23.04 lakh.

Dear Autocar Team, I already own a Kushaq 1.5 TSI Manual, and I am looking to buy a B-segment SUV. I am confused between the Hyundai Creta IVT and the Kia Seltos Turbo DCT. Could you please help me choose the better option?

Since you already own a Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI manual, you are already enjoying a strong turbo petrol engine and a genuinely engaging driving experience. The Creta IVT is a naturally aspirated petrol with a CVT, which is smooth and easy in traffic but will feel like a step down in performance and driving enjoyment compared to your Kushaq. The Seltos turbo petrol DCT is the better fit here. It gives you the performance you are used to, a more premium cabin, and a genuinely enjoyable driving experience. The DCT is not as smooth as the IVT in stop-start traffic, but it is the more engaging car overall and will feel like a proper upgrade rather than a compromise. The Seltos also feels more premium inside and is the more satisfying car to own alongside your Kushaq.

Hi Autocar, I own a Nissan Magnite CVT and am very happy with it, as it perfectly suits my usage of 20 km daily in Bengaluru's bumper-to-bumper traffic and 500 km of highway driving per month for weekend trips. I am now planning to upgrade to a larger car with a spacious rear seat that can comfortably accommodate three passengers. I recently test-drove the Nissan Tekton, but I found the DCT unsuitable for my daily city driving. It also doesn't offer the CVT that I have grown to like in the Magnite, although the dealer mentioned that a CVT variant may be launched soon. Would it be worth waiting for the Tekton CVT? I am not in a hurry and can wait for around six months. Or should I consider alternatives like the Hyundai Creta CVT or the Honda Elevate CVT? Are there any other automatic SUVs that would suit my requirements for daily city commuting while also being comfortable for regular weekend highway trips?

Given your usage pattern of heavy Bangalore traffic and monthly highway trips, the priority should be a smooth, reliable automatic gearbox and a spacious rear seat for three. The Hyundai Creta IVT (CVT) would be the most sensible upgrade for you. The IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to stop-start traffic, and the Creta offers a genuinely roomy rear seat that can comfortably accommodate three adults. This Hyundai car is also a proven, reliable package with good highway manners for your weekend trips. The Honda Elevate CVT is also worth considering. The CVT is equally smooth in traffic, and Honda’s long-term reliability is a strong point. However, the rear seat is not as wide as the Creta’s, so it is not as comfortable for three adults on longer journeys.Overall, the Creta IVT is the most balanced upgrade from your Magnite CVT, offering the right combination of gearbox smoothness, rear seat space and long-term ownership confidence.

Hi, I had planned to buy the Brezza Facelift 1.5 VXI MT and install the necessary accessories after delivery, with a budget of Rs. 12 lakh. However, I am now also considering the Creta 1.5 MT base model or the Kia Seltos base model. The on-road price of the Creta is Rs. 13.61 lakh, while the Seltos costs Rs. 13.72 lakh. Since there is a price difference of about Rs. 1.60 lakh between the Brezza and these two models, I am weighing my options. Would upgrading be a good idea? If so, which one should I choose between the Creta base model or the Seltos base model? Thanks.

If Rs. 1.6-1.7 lakh price difference isn't too much of a stretch for you, then get the entry-level Kia Seltos 1.5 Petrol. It feels far more modern, and more premium than the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and besides being more spacious, even in its base-spec packs most of the essential features you'd expect at this price.

I own a 2017 Hyundai i20 Asta (O) with around 60,000km on the odometer. I am planning to upgrade with a budget of Rs 20 lakh. My priorities are an automatic transmission, ADAS, a sunroof, and a powered tailgate. I have shortlisted the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Sierra. Which of these would be the best long-term choice, and why?

Based on your priorities, the Kia Seltos would be our recommendation. It offers a well-rounded package with a strong feature set, including ADAS, a sunroof and a powered tailgate, while also delivering a comfortable ownership experience. The Seltos is a proven product with a good reliability record, and Kia’s service network is strong enough to inspire long-term confidence. The Hyundai Creta is mechanically very similar, but the Seltos feels more premium inside and offers a slightly better feature-to-price ratio. The Tata Sierra is a compelling option with a spacious cabin and a premium feel, but it is still a relatively new product and does not have the same long-term ownership track record as the Seltos. Given your budget and priorities, the Kia car mentioned above strikes the best balance between features, reliability and long-term peace of mind.

Hi Team, I am currently driving a 2016 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and am planning to upgrade to an SUV. I have shortlisted the Mahindra XUV 7XO Petrol MT and the Hyundai Creta Petrol MT. My daily running is around 15-25 km. My top priorities are a 5-star safety rating, good ride comfort, and easy drivability in the city. Could you please compare these two models based on my usage and suggest which one would be the better choice? Also, which engine and transmission combination would you recommend for my requirements?

Based on your priorities, the Mahindra XUV 7XO Petrol MT is the better fit. The XUV 7XO is a larger, more substantial SUV with a stronger safety focus, a 5-star safety rating and a more premium feel than the Creta. This Mahindra car is also a more recent product and feels more modern overall. The petrol engine is smooth and refined, and the manual gearbox is easy to use in city conditions. The Creta is still a very good car, but it is not as spacious or as premium-feeling as the XUV 7XO. The only drawback of the XUV 7XO is that it is a larger car and may not be as easy to manoeuvre in tight city spaces, but overall it is the better choice for your requirements.
