Volkswagen has silently discontinued the Tiguan AllSpace and T-Roc SUVs in India. The Tiguan AllSpace has been delisted from Volkswagen India’s website, while bookings for the T-Roc are closed as well. Both these models were imported to India as fully built units in limited numbers.

  • Tiguan AllSpace, T-Roc were imported under 2500-unit homologation rule
  • Made-in-India Tiguan 5-seat variant will launch later this month

Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and T-Roc – a brief recap

The Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace was launched back in 2020 as the brand’s flagship model in India. It was offered in a single, fully loaded trim and was last priced at Rs 34.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It was essentially an extended three-row, seven-seater version of the Tiguan. Under the hood, the Tiguan AllSpace was powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine that produces 190hp and 320Nm of peak torque. It solely came mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and was even offered with VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system as standard.

As for the T-Roc, it too was launched in 2020 in a single, fully loaded trim for a price of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Having quickly sold out the first batch, Volkswagen reintroduced the second batch of the T-Roc this year for a price of Rs 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The T-Roc was powered by VW’s 1.5-litre TSI engine that produces 150hp and 250Nm of peak torque. The T-Roc too came with a sole 7-speed DSG gearbox, although it was front-wheel drive only.

Both the T-Roc and the Tiguan AllSpace were imported to India under the 2500-unit homologation rules. The first batch of the T-Roc comprised 1,000 units, although Volkswagen didn’t reveal the exact number of units that came in the second batch – all of which seem to have been sold out. Similarly, the Tiguan AllSpace was also imported in limited units, which too stand completely sold out, according to a few dealers.

Volkswagen India: upcoming launches

The Tiguan AllSpace will soon be replaced by the standard 5-seater Tiguan facelift that’s slated for a launch on December 7. It will be the brand’s new flagship model in India and, unlike the Tiguan AllSpace, the Tiguan facelift will be locally assembled here in India. With the discontinuation of the AllSpace, Volkswagen will no longer have a three-row SUV in India. That said, a facelift of the Tiguan AllSpace exists globally and it could come down to our shores sometime in the future.

Volkswagen recently also unveiled a facelift for the T-Roc globally, although there is no official word from Volkswagen India yet on whether the 2022 model will be introduced in our market.
