Ahead of its debut on June 30, Tata Motors has just dropped the first teaser of the upcoming Sierra EV, which will be the brand’s seventh all-electric model. Like all other existing Tata EVs, the Sierra EV will be an EV conversion of its ICE counterpart. It’s expected to be largely similar inside and out, save for some EV-specific updates. As for powertrain, the Sierra EV is expected share its battery and motor configurations with that of the Harrier EV.
- Sierra EV expected to come with 65kWH and 75kWH battery packs
- Likely to be offered in both RWD and AWD configurations
- Exterior, interior elements will be carried over largely unchanged from ICE Sierra
The Sierra EV has been in the making for long, first showcased as a design concept way back in February 2020. Since then, we have a seen an evolution of the original concept, taking it closer to production-spec. It been in the pipeline for over six years now, and is a highly anticipated model joining the growing midsize electric SUV ranks.

Tata Sierra EV: what to expect?
The Sierra EV will carry over the same signature design that has been a characteristic element of the ICE-powered Sierra. So, it will have the same squared-off design with connected LED headlights and tail-lamps, blacked-out A- and C-pillars, and of course, the Sierra’s signature curved-over rear window design. The fascia, however, will have a slightly different treatment with different use of colours – it gets a body-coloured sealed-off grille unlike the ICE-powered Sierra that has a functional grille finished in black. Top-spec trims can be expected to come with 19-inch wheels.
On the inside, too, expect the triple-screen setup to continue on the higher trims, comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. Lower variants, meanwhile, are expected with a dual-screen setup and a head-up display (HUD). Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a premium audio system and drive modes.

Mechanically, the Sierra EV is expected to be related to the Harrier EV. Therefore, it’s expected to be underpinned by Tata’s acti.ev+ architecture and carry over the 65kWh and 75kWh battery options from the latter. Tata’s chief commercial officer, Vivek Srivastava, in an interview with Autocar India, had previously confirmed that the Sierra EV will arrive in both RWD and AWD versions. Tata is expected to offer AWD only with the 75kWh version. Notably, this being slightly smaller than the Harrier EV, one can expect better range from the same batteries.
Upon launch, the Sierra EV will slot right between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata’s rapidly expanding EV portfolio. It’s expected to be priced between Rs 18-25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Maruti e Vitara.
