After introducing the Punch EV facelift, Tata Motors is now set to launch the Sierra EV by this year's second quarter (April to June), according to our sources. Upon launch, it will be positioned below the Harrier EV, Tata's current zero-emission flagship. The Sierra EV will roll out of the manufacturer's Sanand factory alongside the Sierra ICE, chief commercial officer Vivek Srivatsa told Autocar India earlier.

To be offered in both RWD, AWD options
As we had reported earlier, the Sierra is underpinned by Tata's acti.EV+ (pronounced active) architecture just like the Harrier EV. Tata has confirmed that the SUV will be offered with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setups, making it the second model to do so after the electric Harrier.
Creta Electric, BE 6 among rivals
There is also a possibility that the Sierra EV could use an integrated drive unit similar to the Punch EV, where the motor and key ancillaries are packaged into a single housing. Tata claims this helps keep the powertrain more compact and cost-efficient. If adopted, it could allow the Sierra EV to be priced competitively against rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric (Rs 18.02-24.70 lakh), Maruti e Vitara (Rs 15.99-20.01 lakh), Mahindra BE 6 (Rs 18.90-27.65 lakh) and others. Additionally, a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option to lower the upfront vehicle cost, as seen on the Punch EV, could also be extended to the Sierra.

Minor design tweaks, ICE-version like screen setup
Going by the last teaser of the production-spec Sierra EV, it'll be visually distinguished from the ICE version with a sealed-off front nose finished in body colour and a mildly revised bumper detailing. The teaser didn't reveal much of the cabin, but a 2025 design patent points to a twin-display layout similar to the combustion-run Sierra, featuring a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Whether the three-screen setup makes it to this version remains to be seen. The 4-spoke steering wheel is also carried over. As for features, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a premium audio system and drive modes are expected.
Ex-showroom price brackets of rival midsize SUVs are as of February 2025.
