Tata Motors recently unveiled the production-spec Harrier SUV ahead of its market launch which is slated for early next year.  While there is much known about the model's engine, gearbox and other bits, we bring you some exclusive details about the model's infotainment system.

First up, the Tata Harrier will come with a widescreen 8.8-inch infotainment screen which was already previewed by us earlier this year in this story. Now, according to sources, we can confirm that the Harrier's infotainment system will be sourced from Visteon.

For those who don't know, Visteon is a popular automotive component supplier that specialises in infotainment systems, multi-info displays and digital instrument clusters. The company already supplies infotainment screens to various cars and SUVs sold internationally, like the Mazda CX-9 SUV and the Ford's super-duty trucks. Additionally, Tata Motors- owned JLR also uses Visteon's digital instrument cluster in the stylish Range Rover Velar SUV.

The Tata Harrier's infotainment screen will feature MirrorLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and functions like satellite navigation and reverse camera display. Sources also tell us that one of the prime reasons for the switch from a Harman-supplied infotainment to a Visteon system is due to smoother operating and faster interface. However, the big news is that audio duties on the Harrier will be carried out by Harman, which means the SUV will come with premium sounding speakers like that seen on newer Tata models like the Tiago, Nexon and the Tigor.

Additionally, top-trims will come with a sub-woofer setup too, just like the one seen on the Tata Hexa.

The Harrier will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine good for 140hp, mated to a single six-speed manual gearbox.  Bookings for the Harrier are currently underway, and, as reported by us earlier, the SUV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 16-21 lakh (on-road).
