Kylaq Classic base variant high in demand

The Kylaq received 10,000 within 10 days after its November launch. In December, Skoda had to temporarily halt bookings of the entry-level Kylaq Classic, but they were resumed by January end with a waiting period of up to four months. In the first phase, it plans to deliver 33,000 units of the Kylaq by May, with a majority of the production earmarked for the higher-spec variants. The first 33,333 customers will get a complimentary three-year Standard Maintenance Package (SMP).

30 percent production capacity increased

Built at its Chakan (in Maharashtra) plant, Skoda had earlier announced a 30 percent increase in production capacity to shorten delivery times. An extra 10 percent capacity to the brand’s supplier base for faster procurement of components was also added. It plans to produce around 50,000 to 70,000 units of the Kylaq every year, varying upon market demand. That translates into 4,000 to 5,800 units monthly. Though it is being sold in the domestic market, the compact SUV will also be exported to achieve better economies of scale, as we had reported earlier.

Highest sales since India entry

Skoda, in India for 25 years, registered its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2025, selling 7,422 units. Currently, three cars complete the Skoda's India lineup: Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia, and it targets 100,000 annual sales by 2026. The next-generation Skoda Kodiaq, Superb and Octavia will expand the lineup, though their exact launch timelines have not been revealed yet. Additionally, Skoda aims to launch its first EV in India by September.
