The first spy shots of the third-gen Hyundai Creta have surfaced online. As we reported last year, Hyundai has been readying the next-gen Creta for a 2027 launch, and the spy shots preview a substantial departure in design philosophy.
- 2027 Hyundai Creta may sport larger dimensions than the current model
- Styling looks to be boxier and more angular
- Next gen Creta expected to leverage new K3 platform
Next gen Hyundai Creta exterior design
Could be bigger than the current Creta

Though heavily camouflaged, the next-gen Creta test mule reveals that it eschews the current model’s rounded proportions in favour of a boxier, squatter stance, and looks to be larger overall, too. This design approach is not unlike the new-gen Kia Seltos, which increases length by 95mm, width by 30mm and wheelbase by 80mm over its predecessor.

No design details are discernible up front, but the fascia of the next-gen Creta looks quite upright, and the windscreen is steeply raked. Over to the side, we can observe 18-inch wheels and minimal overhangs at the front and rear – likely in an effort to maximise wheelbase and interior space.

Interestingly, the rear alloys on the next-gen Creta test mule sport the same design as the 17-inchers offered on the new Seltos’ HTK trim. The glass area is quite angular and squared off as well, much like that of the new Seltos. At the rear, nothing of note is visible, though the camouflage does hint at a prominent roof spoiler and raked roofline for the new Creta.
Next gen Hyundai Creta platform and powertrains
Existing powertrains likely to be carried over; new hybrid powertrain expected
Mirroring the Seltos, Hyundai is expected to switch to the newer and safer K3 platform for the next-gen Creta. That means the upgraded midsize SUV will likely be powered by the same engine options as the existing Creta, namely a 115hp 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel and a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol.

Gearbox options comprise a 6-speed manual as standard for all engines, with the NA petrol additionally offering a CVT, the diesel a 6-speed automatic, and the turbo-petrol a 7-speed DCT.
That said, being underpinned by the K3 platform will also allow the next-gen Creta to be equipped with a strong hybrid powertrain that utilises the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. The new Seltos is also confirmed to offer this hybrid powertrain in 2027.
