New Maruti launches in 2025

Having brought out the fourth-gen Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan in 2024, Maruti Suzuki is planning to expand its SUV portfolio next year. The Japanese brand will be introducing at least two new SUVs, with petrol, strong hybrid and EV powertrain options. Read on to know which models Maruti will launch in India in 2025.

Maruti e Vitara

Maruti’s first EV, the e Vitara, is the production-spec version of the eVX concept. It retains most of the concept’s design on the inside and outside, but some design details have been toned down for the production model.

It is expected to launch in March 2025 and be priced in the Rs 20 lakh-30 lakh bracket. The Maruti e Vitara will come with two battery pack options, but what will make the EV unique at this price point, though, is the option of an AWD variant, at least in the top-spec. The entry-level version will get a 49kWh battery pack powering a 144hp motor on the front axle, while the 61kWh battery pack will get a 174hp motor. The AWD version uses the bigger battery but adds a 65hp rear axle-mounted motor, bringing the combined output to 184hp and 300Nm.

Maruti is targeting an MIDC range of over 500km, and given the weight of the e Vitara – between 1,702kg and 1,899kg, depending on the variant – it should be achievable. The Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE 6e rival is also expected to get a Level 2 ADAS suite.

As recent teasers have revealed, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, in January. After the India launch, the e Vitara will first be introduced in Europe by July, after which, it will also be sold in the Japanese market.

Maruti Grand Vitara 3 row SUV

Internally codenamed Y17, this new SUV is essentially a three-row version of the Grand Vitara that will be positioned above it. It will have a slightly longer wheelbase than the Grand Vitara and feature a tweaked design. Recent spy shots of the SUV showed that the lighting and front bumper seem to be inspired by the e Vitara but everything else will be shared with its 5-seater counterpart – from the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrains to the features list. Expected to arrive late in 2025, Maruti’s new flagship SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 22 lakh.
