Maruti will launch the Baleno facelift on September 5, 2026. The Baleno is currently in its second-generation avatar, which launched in 2022, and is due for an update. While further details about the facelifted Baleno are awaited, some test mules have hinted at the expected changes to the hatchback.

  1. Expected to get a revised fascia with a new grille and front bumper
  2. Could get new upholstery, a sunroof and new ambient lighting
  3. Powertrain options are expected to be unchanged

Previous spy shots of the facelifted Baleno have hinted at a redesigned fascia, featuring a new grille with a horizontal bar in its centre, likely with chrome, that connects the headlights. The headlight design is, however, expected to be unchanged, with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The test mules also had a redesigned bumper devoid of the front fog lamps seen on the current model.

In profile, except for redesigned alloy wheels, no other changes are expected. At the rear, the Baleno facelift could get a new bumper, but the taillights are likely to be identical to the current model. A roof-mounted spoiler and rear wiper are expected to continue on the Baleno facelift.

Likely to get new seat upholstery, ambient lighting and a sunroof

The test mule of the Baleno facelift featured a dashboard design identical to the current model. The facelifted Baleno could have the same 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, trapezoid-shaped air-con vents with some silver inserts, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Maruti could, however, revise the cabin upholstery and equip it with a single-pane sunroof and ambient lighting, which are offered by rivals. Other features are expected to continue, including automatic climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, powered outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM).

Expected to get the same petrol and CNG options as the current model

The facelifted Maruti Baleno is expected to continue with the same powertrain options as the current model, including a 90hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, and a 77.5hp CNG option offered only with the manual transmission.

The Maruti Baleno facelift is expected to have a slight premium over the current model’s 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. It will continue to rival the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza.

Prices are ex-showroom, India.
