Maruti Suzuki Invicto is all set to launch on July 5, and ahead of that, the MPV has now been spied sans camouflage. The Invicto will be a badge-engineered sibling of the Toyota Innova Hycross, and Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings for the Invicto for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

  1. Maruti Invicto will only get a strong-hybrid powertrain
  2. It is a badge-engineered version of Innova Hycross

Maruti Suzuki Invicto design

The Invicto has started arriving at dealerships and the images show the Invicto will get a different grille than the Hycross. While the grille will have the same basic shape, there will be two thick chrome slats that extend into the headlights, and a slightly different mesh design. The headlights will also be slightly different and it gets Nexa’s three-block signature Daytime Running Lamps. The Invicto will also have a completely different front bumper design with a new faux skid plate and will not come with fog lamps.

In profile, the two biggest differences between the Invicto and the Innova Hycross are the use of different alloy wheels and the lack of plastic cladding on the wheel arches. The Invicto gets a new alloy wheel design, which, at first glance, looks very similar to the ones used on the second-gen Baleno.

At the back, however, the two MPVs look nearly identical and the only differentiating factor is that the Invicto gets Maruti’s three-block design for the tail-lights.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto powertrain

Maruti Suzuki will only offer a strong hybrid powertrain with the Invicto. This powertrain gets the 184hp, 2.0-litre petrol engine coupled with an electric motor and is mated to an e-CVT gearbox. There will be no manual gearbox option on offer, making it the first Maruti Suzuki product to be automatic-only. Read more about it here

Maruti Suzuki Invicto rivals, positioning

The Invicto will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant alongside the Hycross, similar to the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Invicto will only go head-to-head with its Toyota sibling as Kia has recently discontinued the Carnival MPV in India. Prices for the Invicto will be announced on July 5. For reference, the Hycross hybrid’s prices range between Rs 25.03 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
