Kia India will launch the Carens facelift in India by mid-2025, we can exclusively report. The Kia Carens facelift has been spied on test in India and overseas, giving us a hint of what to expect from the mid-cycle update.

  1. Carens facelift gets new headlamps; LED light bar expected
  2. New alloys, new tail-lights among exterior changes
  3. Expected with more features, including an ADAS suite

Kia Carens facelift exterior highlights

While the new spy shots of the Carens facelift spotted in its home country, South Korea, don’t reveal too much, a new design for the alloys can be confirmed. Previous images of the MPV showed redesigned headlamps – similar to newer Kia models – that seem to be connected by a light bar. This will give the nose a familiar Kia family look, especially when stood beside the Sonet and Seltos. The rear is also expected to see some change with reshaped tail-lamps, fitted with a new C-shaped LED signature.

Kia Carens facelift interior, features

There isn't much information regarding the facelift's cabin, but we expect minimal changes; just new upholstery and colour options. On the other hand, the features list is set to expand with inclusions like a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite, the latter being segment-first.

Kia Carens facelift powertrain

Mechanically, the Carens facelift will carry forward the existing MPV’s engine options – a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options are expected to include the 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch auto.

Kia Carens facelift price estimate, rivals

The Carens is currently priced between Rs 10.52 lakh and Rs 19.94 lakh, and the facelift will definitely cost more, especially as the higher-spec trims will get ADAS features. Kia’s MPV will continue to rival the Maruti Ertiga (Rs 8.69 lakh-13.03 lakh), XL6 (Rs 11.61 lakh-14.61 lakh) and the Toyota Rumion (Rs 10.44 lakh-13.73 lakh).

There’s also some overlap with 7-seater SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar (Rs 16.78 lakh-21.28 lakh), MG Hector Plus (Rs 17.30 lakh-22.93 lakh) and the Tata Safari (Rs 15.49 lakh-27.34 lakh).

Kia is also working on the Carens EV (codenamed: KY-EV) for India, but it will arrive later.
