Kia Carens Clavis price

Prices for the Kia Carens Clavis will be announced in India on May 23. Bookings for the new MPV have already begun since May 9 for a token amount of Rs 25,000 on Kia’s website and at its dealerships. The new Kia Carens Clavis is essentially an updated and more premium version of the regular Carens which will be sold alongside the regular MPV. It will be available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, as well as petrol and diesel engine options.

  1. Kia Carens Clavis gets two petrol and one diesel engine option
  2. Available in seven trims; 6-seat configuration on top trim only
  3. Carens Clavis to get an electric version, too

Kia Carens Clavis will have a more premium positioning

Premium features now reserved for the Carens Clavis

Following the introduction of the Carens Clavis, Kia has rationalised the regular Carens lineup – it is now available in just a single trim with three engine options and just a manual gearbox. This will allow Kia to considerably differentiate the two products as the Carens Clavis gets a much wider spread with seven trims on offers: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX and HTX+.

Moreover, the regular Carens is now only available as a 7-seater, while the Carens Clavis gets the optional second-row captain seats on the top HTX+ trim.

The naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines get a 6-speed manual, while the turbo-petrol gets a 6-speed iMT. As for the automatics, the turbo-petrol gets a 7-speed DCT while the diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter.

Kia Carens Clavis expected price

Prior to the rejig of the Carens lineup, it was priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect prices for the Carens Clavis to begin from about Rs 11 lakh, and go a little beyond Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). In the midsize MPV segment, the Carens Clavis will rival the likes of the Maruti Ertiga (Rs 8.97 lakh-13.26 lakh), XL6 (Rs 11.83 lakh-14.87 lakh) and the Toyota Rumion (Rs 10.54 lakh-13.83 lakh).
