Hyundai Alcazar SUV

Hyundai has mildly refreshed the Alcazar SUV by updating its standard safety features. Like the updates for the Venue and Creta, Hyundai has also slightly updated the engines of the Alcazar to comply with the upcoming emissions norms.

  1. Alcazar gets integrated starter generator (ISG)
  2. Both engines are BS6 stage 2, RDE compliant

Hyundai Alcazar SUV: what’s new?

In this update, Hyundai has made six airbags standard across all variants. Earlier, only driver and passenger airbags were standard across the range, whereas side and curtain airbags were available from platinum trim onwards.

Furthermore, Hyundai has also added an integrated starter generator (ISG) in the Alcazar that will enable the start-stop functionality and help increase fuel efficiency. The South Korean manufacturer also mentioned that all engines available with the Alcazar now comply with the new emissions standards – Bharat Stage 6 2.0 – and will also be able to run on a 20 percent petrol-ethanol blend (E20).

Hyundai Alcazar SUV: powertrains

Under the hood, the Alcazar gets a choice of two engine options – a 159hp, 191Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 115hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both are mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai Alcazar SUV: price and rivals

Prices for the Alcazar start at Rs 16.10 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 20.85 lakh. It rivals the Tata Safari (Rs 15.64 lakh-24 lakh), MG Hector Plus (Rs 17.50 lakh-22.43 lakh) and Mahindra XUV700 (Rs 13.44 lakh-25.47 lakh).
