I am planning to buy an Alcazar manual but am confused about whether to choose petrol or diesel. My usage will be in the city, and I will drive on the highway mostly on weekends. Please suggest whether I should go with petrol or diesel.
Go for the Hyundai Alcazar diesel manual. Your usage pattern of city driving with regular weekend highway runs is exactly where a diesel makes sense. The Alcazar diesel is a refined and efficient engine, and it delivers strong torque at low revs, which makes overtaking on highways effortless and reduces the need for frequent gear changes in the city. The Alcazar petrol, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, which is smooth and refined but lacks the low-end punch of the diesel, especially when the car is fully loaded. The diesel will also deliver significantly better fuel efficiency on both city and highway runs, which will add up over time. The only reason to choose the petrol would be if your usage was almost exclusively city driving and if your monthly usage is around 1,000 km or less with very low annual running. Given your mix of city and highway usage, diesel is the better choice.
