Hyundai Alcazar Corporate: what’s new?
So far, the Alcazar was equipped with a panoramic sunroof only on the petrol variants, starting from the second-from-base Prestige trim. The diesel variants did not get a panoramic sunroof for two reasons – first, to keep pricing on par with the petrol, and second, in the interest of fuel economy. Hyundai managed to save about 50kg on the Alcazar diesel by not offering the panoramic sunroof, and that helped achieve a fuel economy of over 20kpl, something customers value when buying a diesel.
However, it’s no secret how much Indian car buyers fancy a panoramic sunroof, which is why Hyundai seems to have given in to the trend. The new Corporate trim sits between the existing Prestige and Platinum trims, and apart from the panoramic sunroof, it also comes equipped with LED headlamps, 17-inch alloys, dual-zone AC, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, 6 airbags and ESC.
The Alcazar diesel uses a 1.5-litre mill that produces 116hp and 250Nm; the new Corporate trim is available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox.
Hyundai Alcazar new petrol-DCT variant launched
Meanwhile, the new Prestige petrol-DCT variant makes the 7-speed DCT gearbox more affordable by 2.30 lakh; previously, it was offered on the Platinum trim onwards, which is priced from Rs 20.94 lakh. The DCT gearbox is mated to the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 160hp and 253Nm of torque.
