BMW has launched the X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition in India at a price tag of Rs 1.21 crore (ex-showroom, India). This is the fifth special edition BMW after the M340i, 630i M Sport, 530i M Sport, and the recently launched M4 Competition. As part of the ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations of its M division, BMW will introduce five more 50 Jahre M Editions in India, which will include other M Sport and M models.

Compared to the standard X7, the 50 Jahre M Edition gets key cosmetic changes and is exclusively available in two BMW Individual paint shades – Mineral White and Carbon Black. These changes include the gloss black kidney grille and the 21-inch black alloy wheels with gloss black finished brake calipers.

Like the previous special editions, the BMW X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition SUV also gets additional M badges – at the front, rear and on the hub caps – inspired by early BMW Motorsport race cars, and features a unique design that sports semicircles in blue, violet and red. BMW is offering an optional M Accessories Package that includes an Alcantara finished steering wheel and key fob, along with carbon-fibre finished wing mirror caps.

On the inside, the layout and cabin remains similar to the standard X7 40i M Sport with highlights such as the glass inserts on the gear selector, the iDrive control knob, the audio control button and the start/stop button. The features on the 50 Jahre M Edition remain the same as the standard car and include a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and infotainment system, five-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, two 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment screens for rear passengers, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

With no mechanical changes, the BMW X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition continues to be powered by the same 340hp, 450Nm, 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the standard car. Paired to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, the special edition X7 can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 6.1 seconds.
