BMW has launched the 50 Jahre M Edition of the M4 Competition coupe in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 1.53 crore (ex-showroom, India). This makes it Rs 9 lakh more expensive compared to the standard M4 Competition. It is the fourth special edition model after the M340i, 630i M Sport and the 530i M Sport and the first special edition of the full-fledged M model. As part of the ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations of its M division, BMW will come up with six more 50 Jahre Editions in India, which will include other M Sport and M models.

Compared to the standard M4 Competition, the 50 Jahre M Edition features minor cosmetic changes and is available in BMW Individual paint shades including Macao blue and Imola red. Like all the 50 Jahre M Editions before, the M4 Competition also features M emblems  at the front, rear and hubcaps – inspired by early Motorsport racecars, and features a design that has semicircles in blue, violet and red.

Like the standard M4, the special edition model also gets adaptive LED headlights with BMW Laserlights, high-gloss black wing mirrors, a rear-spoiler and quad exhausts. The 50 Jahre M Edition is also available with 19/20-inch double-spoke alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey and Gold Bronze.

On the inside, the interior layout remains largely similar to the standard M4 Competition. However, certain touches are a giveaway that this is the special edition model like the “Edition 50 Jahre BMW M” lettering on the door sill, metal plaque on the centre console and on the headrests. The feature list remains the same as the M4 Competition and includes equipment like a three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function.

Mechanically, there is no change in the M4 Competition’s 50 Jahre Edition. It comes powered with a 510hp, 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that is capable of taking the coupe from 0-100 in 3.5 seconds and it is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
