2026 Renault Duster fuel efficiency

Renault has disclosed the ARAI-tested mileage figures for the 2026 Duster midsize SUV’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol powertrains. Available from the one-above-base Duster Evolution trim, this engine outputs a class-best 163hp and 280Nm. Gearbox options for the Duster 1.3 turbo-petrol comprise a 6-speed manual and 6-speed wet-clutch DCT. Mileage figures for the Duster's entry-level 100hp turbo-petrol MT powertrain have yet to be revealed.

  1. 2026 Renault Duster mileage is 17.75kpl for 1.3 turbo MT
  2. Duster turbo-petrol DCT mileage is 18.45kpl

In manual guise, the claimed Duster mileage is 17.75kpl, while the wet-clutch DCT returns 18.45kpl. While claimed fuel efficiency figures hardly tell the full story for turbo-petrol engines – they're highly sensitive to driving style and throttle inputs – the Duster's mileage is quite competitive by turbo-petrol midsize SUV standards.

The facelifted Skoda Kushaq launched just a few days ago and delivers a claimed mileage of 18.72kpl from its 1.5-litre turbo petrol-DCT powertrain – just 0.27kpl higher than that of the 2026 Duster. The Kushaq 1.5 TSI DCT has a little more displacement than the Duster 1.3 turbo-petrol, but the Skoda SUV makes 13hp and 30Nm less, gets an extra gear, and features active cylinder deactivation tech.

The Volkswagen Taigun, meanwhile, comes equipped with the same 150hp 1.5 TSI DCT powertrain as that of the Kushaq, but yields an ARAI-claimed mileage of 19.01kpl – 0.56kpl higher than the Duster 1.3 turbo-petrol. This is likely a result of different ECU/TCU calibration and aerodynamic differences.

Interestingly, the Hyundai Creta mileage is rated at 18.4kpl for the 1.5-litre turbo petrol-DCT powertrain, which is marginally lower than that of the Duster 1.3 turbo-petrol DCT. At 160hp and 253Nm, the Creta turbo-petrol makes slightly less power, and its 7-speed DCT has one more gear than the Duster's, but it seems the Renault SUV's smaller engine allowed it to pull ahead.
