2022 World Car of the Year finalists announced

    Made-for-India cars like the Volkswagen Taigun and Renault Kiger have been shortlisted in the World Urban Car of the Year category.

    The made-for-India Renault Kiger and Volkswagen Taigun have been shortlisted for World Urban Car of the Year.

    The World Car Awards (WCA) has released the list of the top 10 finalists for the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) Award, and top five finalists each in five other categories. This year saw the addition of a brand new category – World Electric Vehicle of the Year. 

    The jury includes 102 distinguished international automotive journalists from 33 countries, including Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India, and Renuka Kirpalani, Executive Editor, Video, Autocar India and Editor of the Autocar show. 

    • Top three from each category will be selected on March 15, 2022
    • Winners for all categories to be announced on April 13

    Here’s the compiled list of finalists for the 2022 awards.

    2022 World Car Award: what’s next

    The next step involves selecting the top three from these aforementioned categories, results of which will be announced on March 15. The final results, however, will only be made public on April 13, at the 2022 New York International Auto Show.
