What’s nice is that carmakers are now offering automatic gearbox options across most of the variant line-up of a particular vehicle, so there’s something to fit every budget.
Here, we have listed the cheapest automatic SUVs under Rs 10 lakh that are currently available in India. The rankings are based on the starting prices of their automatic variant line-up, in descending order.

10. Mahindra XUV 3XO
Automatic starting price: Rs 9.71 lakh
Kicking off this list is the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The petrol-AT powertrain is offered from the XUV 3XO MX2 Pro trim onwards, comprising a 111hp 1.2-litre MPFi turbo-petrol engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In this guise, the XUV 3XO gets a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 4-speaker sound system, a sunroof, halogen headlights, LED tail-lamps, manual AC with rear vents, 6 airbags, and rear parking sensors. The XUV 3XO is also offered with a 131hp 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol and a 117hp 1.5-litre diesel engine, both of which get automatic transmissions too.
9. Citroen C3
Automatic starting price: Rs 9.45 lakh
Citroen India's most affordable offering, the C3, gets an automatic variant only in the top-spec X Shine trim level. It's powered by a 110hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Being the fully loaded variant, the C3 X Shine Turbo AT offers goodies like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver's display, automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, LED headlights, an auto-dimming IRVM, 6 airbags, and more.
8. Skoda Kylaq
Automatic starting price: Rs 9.25 lakh

Thanks to the addition of the one-above-base Classic+ variant, the Skoda Kylaq makes it into this list. The Kylaq Classic+ AT gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic paired with a 115hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. In terms of amenities, this Kylaq variant is equipped with a single-pane sunroof, an analogue instrument cluster with a MID, a 6-speaker sound system, manual AC, cruise control, and a leatherette-wrapped gear lever. On the safety front, it features 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, rain sensing wipers and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. The Kylaq turbo-petrol AT delivers an ARAI-claimed mileage of 19.68kpl.
7. Tata Nexon
Automatic starting price: Rs 8.78 lakh

The Nexon is the first Tata SUV on this list, and it is available with a 6-speed AMT coupled to a 120hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Smart+ trim onwards. The Nexon Smart+ AMT is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, full-LED lighting, and 6 airbags. A 7-speed DCT is also offered with the same engine in higher Nexon variants. The Nexon petrol-AMT has an ARAI-rated mileage of 17.18kpl. Like the XUV 3XO, the Nexon also comes with a diesel-AMT combo.
6. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor
Automatic starting price: Rs 8.72 lakh
Next up is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, which pairs a 5-speed AMT with its entry-level 90hp 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine from the S trim onwards. In this guise, the Taisor gets a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, 6 airbags, and more. Notably, the Taisor petrol-AMT claims an impressive ARAI-tested mileage of 22.8kpl. Higher Taisor variants can be had with a 6-speed torque converter mated to a stronger 100hp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.
5. Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Automatic starting price: Rs 8.15 lakh
As the badge-engineered sibling of the Toyota Taisor, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx uses the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 5-speed AMT gearbox, as well as the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 6-speed AT in higher variants. The Fronx petrol-AMT is offered from the Delta trim onwards, which includes equipment like a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4-speaker sound system, 6 airbags, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, etc. Interestingly, the Fronx petrol-AMT variants are over Rs 50,000 cheaper than the equivalent Taisor variants, representing great value for money.
4. Tata Punch
Automatic starting price: Rs 7.55 lakh

Most variants of the Tata Punch are powered by an 88hp 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. A 5-speed AMT is offered with this motor from the Pure+ trim onwards, which gets equipment like an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual AC, 6 airbags, a rear defogger, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a 4-speaker sound system, and more. Tata has yet to reveal the claimed mileage of the updated Punch AMT, but it should be similar to the pre-facelift model's 18.82kpl figure. Notably, the Punch offers 1.2-litre CNG-AMT variants under Rs 10 lakh too.
3. Renault Kiger
Automatic starting price: Rs 6.95 lakh

The Renault Kiger offers two automatic gearbox options under Rs 10 lakh: a 5-speed AMT with the 72hp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, and a smoother CVT with the 100hp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The AMT is available from the mid-spec Kiger Evolution trim onwards, which is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, front and rear power windows, 6 airbags, keyless entry, manual AC with rear vents, LED tail-lamps, etc. ARAI-claimed mileage of the Kiger stands at 19.03kpl for the AMT and 18.24kpl for the CVT.
2. Hyundai Exter
Automatic starting price: Rs 6.91 lakh

With its 2026 facelift, the Hyundai Exter variant line-up was rejigged and its petrol-AMT starting price was dropped by almost Rs 80,000. The updated Exter continues with an 83hp 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 5-speed AMT from the HX3 trim onwards. The Exter HX3 petrol-AMT offers an 8-inch touchscreen, a part-digital driver's display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlamps with DRLs, manual AC, 6 airbags, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and more. Claimed mileage for the facelifted Exter AMT has not been disclosed yet, but the pre-facelift model delivered 19.2kpl.
1. Nissan Magnite
Automatic starting price: Rs 6.21 lakh

As it stands, the Nissan Magnite is the cheapest automatic SUV in India. It is the badge-engineeered counterpart of the Kiger, so the powertrain options are identical. However, the Magnite line-up features more automatic variants than the Kiger at mostly lower prices. In fact, the Magnite is the cheapest CVT-equipped car in India too. The Magnite Visia AMT is the SUV's most affordable automatic variant, and covers the basics with 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a cabin air purifier, halogen headlights, front and rear power windows, rear parking sensors, and more.
