The Syros, which was launched in February, is the second compact SUV from Kia in India after the Sonet. Positioned as the more premium offering, the Syros brings more cabin space, a longer list of features and improved safety credentials. Keep reading for answers to 6 of the most common questions about the Kia Syros.

1. What is the Kia Syros price?

Rs 9.5 lakh onwards.

The Syros price range is from Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 17.8 lakh, ex-showroom India. Its on-road price should be between Rs 10.77 lakh and Rs 20.32 lakh in Gurugram and Rs 10.64 lakh to Rs 21.24 lakh in Delhi. Note that these prices cover the full Syros variant line-up – HTK, HTK(O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and HTX+(O) – listed here in ascending order.

2. What are the Kia Syros engine options?

1-litre turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre diesel engine options.

Syros shares its turbo-petrol and diesel engines with the Sonet but skips the naturally aspirated option altogether. It uses the same 120hp, 172Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 116hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre diesel engines, both paired with a 6-speed manual as standard. The petrol and diesel automatic versions get 7-speed DCT and 6-speed torque converter units.

3. What is the Kia Syros mileage?

Diesel MT most fuel efficient.

Kia claims the Syros petrol delivers 18.2kpl with the manual and 17.7kpl with the dual-clutch automatic. The Syros diesel, on the other hand, is rated at 20.8kpl for the manual and 17.6kpl for the automatic. Automatic variants also come with drive modes, including fuel-efficiency-focused Eco, though none of the Syros variants get an automatic engine stop-start system to cut fuel use at idle. Excluding the Syros diesel manual, we tested all other powertrains to gauge real-world mileages of the Syros (refer to the graph below).

4. What are the Kia Syros interior features?

12.3-inch touchscreen, seat ventilation, panoramic sunroof.

In the case of the top-spec Syros HTX+(O), Kia offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver’s display, in the middle of which lies a 5-inch HVAC unit. More creature comforts include a driver’s seat with electric adjust, ventilated seats (front and back), second-row seats with recline and slide and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon system. You also get a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, 64-colour ambient lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels and all-LED headlights.

Kia Syros safety

On the safety front, the Syros stands out with a Level 2 ADAS suite and a 5-star BNCAP crash rating – two things the Sonet doesn’t offer. The standard safety kit includes six airbags, ABS, ESC, and vehicle stability management.

5. Is the Kia Syros 7 seater SUV?

Seats up to 5 people.

No, the Syros is strictly a 5-seat SUV. Notably, it does offer a roomier cabin than its compact sibling, the Sonet. Both SUVs are identical in length at 3,995mm, but the Syros is 15mm wider and taller, measuring 1,805mm in width and 1,625mm in height. Its wheelbase, at 2,550mm, is also 50mm longer than the Sonet’s.

6. When will the Kia Syros EV launch in India?

Likely by March 2026.

As we had reported earlier, the electric Syros is expected to launch in India sometime between January and March 2026. Details like the exact launch date, battery size and range are still under wraps, but we know that the Syros EV will have front-wheel drive and will be based on the same K1 platform as the Hyundai Inster EV sold overseas. For reference, the Inster offers 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs with WLTP-rated ranges of 300km and 355km, respectively. EV-specific exterior changes are likely, as well as new features.
