  2. 95 percent of buyers chose the 7-seat layout
  3. 24 percent opted for top-end trims

Thirty-two percent of customers went for the Carens' iMT, automatic and DCT transmission options, and 24 percent of buyers purchased the top-spec Luxury Plus and X-Line variants, which start at Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh, respectively. Kia Carens price, rivals and powertrains

The Kia Carens range starts at Rs 10.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.69 lakh. The MPV chiefly competes with the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

The Carens offers one diesel and two petrol engine options. The former is a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel unit that makes 115hp and 250Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto gearbox.

The entry-level petrol variants get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated mill that’s good for 115hp and 144Nm and can only be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The pricier Carens variants offer a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 160hp and 253Nm, mated to either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT.

Kia Carens facelift and EV

Both reportedly coming this year

After nearly three years in the Indian market, the Carens will receive a facelift this year. Production of the facelifted Carens is slated to commence sometime around May. Additionally, Kia is prepping a Carens EV to rival the BYD eMax 7. The all-electric Carens could debut sometime in the first half of the year.
