Trending Questions on Volkswagen Virtus - Answered by Autocar Experts
I’m really confused about choosing between the Virtus GT-Line (Carbon Steel Grey matte) and a mid-size SUV like the Creta.
Your usage should determine which car suits you best. The Volkswagen Virtus, being a sedan, is one for keen drivers as it's got punchy turbo petrol engines and a sorted ride and handling balance.
A midsize SUV like the Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, will be better for the family-oriented as it has a more spacious and practical cabin.
I am looking to buy a petrol automatic, preferably a sedan. My on-road budget is ₹20 lakh. What are my options?
Given your requirement and budget, you currently have four options. The Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are mechanically identical, and they stand out for their punchy turbo petrol engine options and ride and handling balance.
The Honda City has a refined 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and has the best back seat. The Hyundai Verna, meanwhile, has the most features, and it can be had with either a turbo-petrol or a naturally-aspirated petrol engine.
The Slavia, Virtus and Verna have also received a full, 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
I’m planning to buy an automatic car (or electric) with a budget of ₹18–25 lakh. I want an automatic with no noticeable “rubber-band” effect, and I prefer strong performance. I’m deciding between the Tata Sierra, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, or the Sierra in petrol - which should I choose and why?
Since you prefer performance and like to drive, the Volkswagen Taigun or Skoda Kushaq will be a better choice.
While we are yet to sample the Sierra on the road, it isn't the sort of SUV to be designed for spirited driving. An even better option compared to these would be the Skoda Slavia or Volkswagen Virtus.
They are sedans, but still get good ground clearance and are superb to drive. The 1.5 TSI engine offers excellent performance, and they are well-equipped and practical too.
I want to upgrade from a Grand i10 to a new car within a budget of Rs 20 lakh. I drive around 1,200 km per month, and do around 2,000 km long drives every quarter. Please suggest the best option.
I need to buy my second car purely for driving pleasure. Budget is within ₹25 lakh, and I definitely want an ICE petrol vehicle. Sedan, SUV, or MUV, anything works. Please advise.
I want to upgrade my Swift ZXI. Which automatic car is the best option within a budget of ₹20 lakh?
There are plenty of options in your budget. If you want a sedan, your options include the Honda City, which comes with a CVT automatic. Other good options include the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia, all offering two automatic gearbox choices.
Go for the City or the Verna with the CVT gearbox, as they’ll be more efficient than the others.
As for SUVs, you'll get most midsize SUVs in your budget. However, you can choose between the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, or Maruti Suzuki Victoris; all three offer a good blend of a refined driving experience, features, and fuel efficiency.
My family has grown since I bought my first car, a Hyundai Elite i20 Asta CVT. Now we’re six members: me, my wife, two kids, and two elders. We need two cars: one primarily driven by me and one for my wife. Our daily commute totals about 50 km across both vehicles, mostly within the city on highway-like routes. We also take 4-5 trips a year with the whole family. The combined budget for both cars is ₹50–55 lakh. I’m currently considering the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus and waiting for the Mahindra XEV 7e (electric for experience & cost).
Virtus 1.0 AT (Top-End) vs Elevate ZX CVT — Which One to Pick? 🚗💭 After months of research, I’m torn between the Volkswagen Virtus 1.0L AT (top trim) and the Honda Elevate ZX CVT. I live in Bangalore, mostly drive on weekends, and do 3–4 highway trips a year to Kerala. I love driving, and I’m upgrading from a Grand i10 petrol. Family of three (two adults + one kid). Looking for advice on: Which feels better to drive on city roads and highways Ride comfort, refinement, and family practicali
Between the two, if you enjoy driving, the Volkswagen Virtus is the better choice. It’s more engaging to drive, and its turbo-petrol engine offers stronger performance. It’s also spacious, with comfortable seating for four and a large boot. The only drawback, based on your priorities, is refinement; the Virtus’s 1.0-litre engine is a three-cylinder unit compared to the Honda Elevate’s four-cylinder. However, refinement isn’t bad on its own and isn’t really a deal-breaker.
I’m planning to upgrade to a sedan with a good seating height and without a clutch. My monthly usage is about 500 km in the city, which has heavy traffic and many potholes. My priorities are mileage and driving comfort. I’m not sure if an EV would be a good choice. I considered the Tata Harrier EV, but dropped the idea after learning about multiple issues. My budget is around ₹25 lakh.
Hello, I'm currently driving a Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 GT manual, which has been excellent. However, the heavy clutch is becoming tiring in Pune's traffic. I'm considering an upgrade to a suitable car for both city and highway driving, with a budget around ₹20 lakh. Could you please suggest some options?
