I need a bigger car but it should be good on mileage and service cost shoukd be economical? How will be TATA Sierra? Please advise
The Tata Sierra is a great product. It is one of the best in the segment for space and comfort, it is loaded with features, and it will be a solid upgrade from your current Maruti Suzuki Swift. However, when it comes to mileage, the Sierra is not the best across its engine and gearbox options.
So, considering your priorities of fuel efficiency and low service costs, we would recommend the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Strong Hybrid. It delivers excellent mileage and you can expect over 20kmpl in both city and highway driving. Plus, since it is a Maruti Suzuki, after sales support and running costs will be very manageable, something you would already be familiar with as a Swift owner. It is also a 5 star BNCAP rated car, which adds extra peace of mind.
If you are willing to wait and want an option beyond Maruti Suzuki, the new Renault Duster is expected to get a strong hybrid around Diwali this year, and it could also fit your requirements well.

My query is about choosing between the Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, the new Kia Seltos, and the Skoda Kushaq. My budget is ₹20 lakh. Please guide me.
The Renault Duster will launch in March, and prices for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine will be revealed then. From what we know, the Duster has a strong road presence thanks to its bold and aggressive design and tough demeanour. We are yet to see how it performs out on the road, so we will reserve our comments till that happens.
The Tata Sierra is a strong package with lots of character in its design and styling and a strong set of features. What also helps its case is the wide array of variants on offer with multiple powertrain options. Its strengths remain its design, space and ride comfort. If you care for these three, the Sierra is the one to go for.
The Skoda Kushaq was recently updated, and it gets new features like massage seats at the rear. However, it still remains a car for driving enthusiasts, especially with the 1.5-litre TSI engine. If you enjoy getting behind the wheel and prefer the driver's seat, the Kushaq would be a very good option. However, what it gains in handling, it loses in ride, and it just isn't as plush as the Sierra. It also misses the character and road presence of the Tata.
The Kia Seltos is a massive improvement from what it was before and is loaded with features. It also gets a host of engine and gearbox options, and the only real deterrent is its aggressive styling. If you don't mind that, the Seltos is a top choice in the segment.

My daily driving is between 80-120 km, mostly on the Hyderabad ORR. Once a month, I also visit my native place, which is 350 km one way from Hyderabad. I’m looking to replace my 2021 Grand i10 Nios, most likely with an EV. My budget is around ₹14-18 lakh. Please suggest.
With usage that high, especially highway usage, we do not recommend getting an electric car, at least not at present. While the need for cost savings is understandable, such high daily usage will require daily charging, which will quickly shorten the battery's life. Moreover, a 350km one-way trip will require an EV with a very long range, and most in this price bracket will not do it comfortably, so at least one charging stop is imperative.
Instead, we recommend a strong hybrid SUV like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, or if you can wait until Diwali, the new Renault Duster hybrid, as it offers the best of both worlds - low running costs as well as flexibility.
If you are still set on having an EV, you would need at least a mid-size EV, such as the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, or Kia Carens Clavis EV, in order to have enough comfortable range, but those would be outside your budget of Rs 18 lakh.

Hi Team. I need your advice on whether the Thar Roxx would be suitable for my usage. I am currently driving a 2015 Hyundai i10 manual and am planning to change it. About 90% of my driving is within the city, with a monthly running of around 1,000 km. The car is mainly used for home-to-office commutes, weekend city trips, and once-a-month highway drives. Now that the Roxx Star Edition has been launched, I am interested in it. Please suggest whether it is suitable for me. If yes, should I choose petrol or diesel? I prefer an automatic, but that will exceed my budget. I have a budget constraint of around ₹17 lakh on-road with a BH number. Please suggest other suitable options if the Thar Roxx is not ideal.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is the most refined, sophisticated, and easy-to-drive ladder-frame SUV Mahindra has made yet, and its intention is to rival more conventional midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta.
However, some shortcomings of a ladder-frame SUV still remain. It is a large SUV whose boxy dimensions aren't ideal for the city, and its ride comfort is not as good as that of a conventional midsize SUV with a lot of movement inside the cabin. And its engines - both petrol and diesel - while powerful and relatively smooth, return very poor mileage, which will be a huge contrast after your 2015 Hyundai i10 manual. Still, it is a very appealing SUV, especially on the looks front, and it offers all the modern features you could want too, so if you are willing to put up with these shortcomings, you can check it out.
Do note, however, that the Roxx Star Edition will be outside your budget of Rs 17 lakh, even for the manual version. Otherwise, we would recommend waiting for the new Renault Duster to be launched in March 2026; it will offer similar tough appeal at a possibly more affordable price.

I am buying my first car and am confused between the Hyundai Venue DCT and the Kia Seltos IVT. I have test-driven the Seltos IVT, but I have not been able to drive the Venue DCT as the dealer says a test-drive vehicle is not available. My usage will be around 80% city driving and 20% highway driving. My key requirements are decent mileage and good rear-seat comfort. I am also open to considering other cars that may be better than these two. Kindly suggest.
Both the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Venue are good options and safe buys. But since you have the budget for the Kia Seltos IVT, we would suggest going for that. The four-cylinder 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is more refined than the three-cylinder 1.0 turbo petrol on the Venue. The CVT (or IVT as Hyundai and Kia call it) is silky smooth and can actually end up giving you better fuel efficiency than the turbo petrol engine.
The Seltos is also more spacious and comfortable, and the interiors of the new Seltos feel premium with top drawer materials, too.
Other options you can explore or wait for include the brand new upcoming Duster, which was recently unveiled and is expected to launch in March 2026.

I am confused about my car purchase. I was initially fixed on the Grand Vitara due to its mileage and service network, but recent additions to the market like the Seltos and Duster have made me reconsider. Mileage is my main priority, but better features would be a bonus. I mainly travel 300-400 km per month. My current Tata Altroz delivers low mileage.
If you are already fixed on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara but want more features, then we would suggest going for the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. It is basically the same car and gets the same super-efficient hybrid powertrain as the Vitara, but more importantly, it comes loaded with extra features, such as a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, a powered tailgate, and Level 2 ADAS as well. Maruti Suzuki has also improved the interior quality, and the good thing is that the pricing is almost the same, which makes the Victoris a great value.
Considering your running is not that high, at under 500 km per month, you can also consider a car with slightly lower mileage, since the overall impact on your fuel bills won’t be significant. It will roughly be in the region of Rs 1500-1800 per month, and if you are okay with that, then you can look at the Tata Sierra Turbo petrol AT as well. The Sierra gives you a big car feel, is loaded with features, and is more spacious and comfortable than the Victoris.
Another car we would suggest is the new Kia Seltos. It is very well priced for the features it offers, feels really premium on the inside, and both the petrol engines are potent and proven powertrains.
We have yet to drive the new Renault Duster, but it does look like a promising product if priced right. It will also be offered with an efficient hybrid powertrain, which is expected to go on sale around Diwali this year. So if you are willing to wait, that is another option worth exploring.

My key requirements are: a 5-seater petrol car, good boot space, 4m+ length, classy interiors, and a budget under ₹25 lakh. Which SUV would be best for me among the Seltos, Sierra, Victoris, or Duster?
From your shortlist, the Renault Duster and Maruti Suzuki Victoris are not as spacious as the Sierra and Seltos, and hence, comfort for five passengers will be compromised. Plus, the Tata Sierra and Seltos have bigger boots too, so based on your basic requirements, we can narrow your choice down to these two SUVs.
Between the Sierra and Seltos, the Kia Seltos is a well-engineered and safe choice but if you want a bit more class, we feel the Sierra, with its stunning design and styling, and well-appointed interiors with a three-screen display, will pull at your heartstrings that much harder.

My budget is within Rs 14 lakh. My first preference is a smooth, quiet, and non-bumpy ride on our roads. I do not mind having fewer tech features. I travel on both city roads and connecting village roads. Which car would be a good choice for me?
You should consider buying the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It offers good ground clearance and excellent ride quality, especially over rough roads. You will not be skimping on features either, as within your budget, you can get the AX7 petrol manual, which is very well equipped. If you want an automatic, you can opt for the AX5 variant.
If you want a larger car with a bigger boot, you can also consider the Citroen Aircross or the Basalt. In your budget, you will get the mid-variant of either of these cars, which are decently equipped. The highlight of both these cars is the fact that you get a midsize SUV for the price of a compact SUV, and their ride quality, too, is right up there with the very best in the segment.
We would also suggest waiting for another two months for the new generation Renault Duster, which is slated to launch in March. The Duster has traditionally offered excellent ride quality and strong rough-road ability.

I have been using a diesel Ameo for the past few years. Earlier, my driving was around 5,000km, but my present job now requires me to drive between 3,000km and 5,000km every month. My car has covered 50,000km so far. I want to upgrade and am confused about whether I should go for an EV or a petrol car. I am also worried about government norms related to diesel vehicles. My petrol options are the Seltos and Sierra, and for EVs, I am considering the BE6. Kindly suggest the best option within my ₹20 lakh on-road budget.
If you drive 3,000-5,000km per month, an electric car is simply not an option for you. Even if you do have the adequate charging infrastructure to keep your battery topped up to cover that many kilometres a month, charging so frequently is not good for the battery's health, and it will be worn down prematurely.
Even a petrol car is not ideal as your running costs will be through the roof. While some states have restrictions on long-term diesel ownership, in the short term, within 10 years, it should not be an issue as long as the car meets the latest emissions norms. That considered, you should check out the Tata Sierra diesel, which is spacious, punchy and comfortable.
If you're still not comfortable with a diesel car, get a strong hybrid like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, or wait for the Renault Duster hybrid, which is launching around Diwali.

I have booked the new Seltos HTK(O) IVT, which is yet to be delivered. Since the new Duster has been launched and looks promising, should I wait for it or continue with the new Seltos? What would be the comparison? My main usage will be commuting to the office, with 90% city driving. Once a month or once every two months, I will drive out of the city.
First things first, you really won't go wrong with the Kia Seltos HTK(O) IVT. The Seltos is a well-packaged SUV with a roomy cabin and plenty of new-age features, but it's the IVT gearbox that makes it especially well-suited to your needs. The IVT is very smooth and works beautifully with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, and is best enjoyed in city driving conditions.
However, if you can, the new Renault Duster could be worth the wait. The powertrain of interest would be the strong hybrid, which is expected around October 2026. Renault claims that 80% of city driving can be on electric power alone, which would make the powertrain extremely efficient. The Duster's also got a rugged feel that the Seltos doesn't quite match.
We'll drive the turbo-petrol versions of the Duster in March. Stay tuned for our reviews!
