The XUV 3XO offers a bigger feel with a solid build and strong performance. While it's costly, it provides safety along with performance. I test drove it once, and its performance is impressive.
The XUV-3XO is not as enjoyable to drive as the Skoda Kodiaq.
After driving the XUV 3XO, I felt it is powerful and fun to drive in the city. However, the city and highway mixed mileage is around 14 kmpl. I have the 3XO AX5 manual petrol, but I prefer automatic transmission DCT over manual because the clutch is not that smooth and each gear shift is clearly felt.

I own a Mahindra XUV 3XO MPFi Petrol, and I mainly use it for city driving. However, I'm getting only around 7-8 kmpl in the city. Should I consider installing a CNG kit in the car?

We wouldn't recommend installing an aftermarket CNG kit on your Mahindra XUV 3XO MPFi Petrol. While it may significantly reduce your running costs, there are a few important compromises to consider. An aftermarket CNG conversion can affect your manufacturer's warranty, reduce boot space and may also impact long-term reliability and refinement if the installation isn't carried out to a very high standard. We'd be even more cautious when it comes to turbo-petrol engines. Unless the CNG system has been developed and validated by the OEM, we generally don't recommend fitting one. Turbo-petrol engines are more complex to calibrate for CNG, and an aftermarket installation may not deliver the same levels of drivability, performance and reliability as a factory-engineered solution. Tata is one of the few manufacturers currently offering a factory-fitted CNG option with a turbo-petrol engine on the Nexon, and that has been engineered from the outset to work with CNG.A city's fuel efficiency of 7-8kpl is on the lower side, but if your driving is predominantly in heavy stop-start traffic, it isn't entirely unexpected. Before considering a CNG conversion, we'd recommend getting the car inspected at the service centre to ensure there are no underlying issues. Also check that the tyre pressures are correct and review your driving style, as these can have a noticeable impact on fuel economy.

My priorities are: 1) Performance, 2) Mileage and ownership cost, 3) Features, and 4) Rear-seat and boot space. Please advise and suggest the best-value variant as well. I am inclined towards an automatic gearbox. Should I look for the sedan as well? Is the Diesel option feasible for me if I want to keep my car for the next 5 years?

Of your three shortlisted SUVs, the Hyundai Venue 1.0 T-GDi makes the most sense as it's the best all-rounder in the segment. It's got a good blend of performance and efficiency, maintenance is relatively cheap and hassle-free, and there are loads of features on offer, even in mid-level variants. It offers a good mix of rear-seat space and boot volume, which are both big improvements on the last-gen Venue. If there's a downside, it's that its DCT automatic can be jerky in low-speed traffic, and needs to be driven with this in mind. The manual, meanwhile, has a light and smooth clutch and gearshift action, so consider it as well.The Mahindra XUV 3XO scores high on performance, with the strongest engine in the class, and it has great space inside the cabin. Its downside, however, is that boot space is not so great, and neither is fuel economy. The Tata Nexon is also a decent all-rounder, but in most areas, it can't quite keep up with the newer and more polished Venue. Overall, the Venue is the one we think you should go for.Diesel is certainly a feasible option if you plan to keep the car for 5 years, and the mileage will certainly be better. But these engines are nowhere near as refined or punchy as their petrol counterparts, and thanks to newer emissions mitigation technology, they're far more expensive to buy, and require extra maintenance to run. Thus, for your usage, and for a first car, we would stick to petrol.

Since you're looking for an easy, comfortable automatic car under Rs. 15 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXI AT is the one you should be looking at. It is very easy to drive in traffic thanks to the light controls, the torque converter automatic shifts smoothly, and the tall seat makes getting in and out easy for a 60-year-old. The ride is calm over broken roads, so daily runs and longer trips feel less tiring. Maruti’s wide service network and low part costs also make life easier over 8-10 years, and resale is usually strong.Two things to note: it is not the quickest thanks to the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that puts out just 103hp, and if the ZXI is over your budget in your city, you'll have to settle for the VXI automatic that will feel a bit basic inside. Pick the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT only if he wants stronger pull and more features for the money. Overall, for comfort, ease, low upkeep and trust, go for the Brezza automatic.

Need genuine advice Currently, I own a Maruti Suzuki Swift VXI DualJet and am planning to upgrade to a compact SUV within a ₹10 lakh budget. I am confused between: - Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX M - Tata Nexon Pure Plus - Skoda Kylaq Classic Connect Interestingly, all three are coming around the same price for me. Since I am coming from Suzuki, I also checked the Maruti Brezza, but honestly, it feels a bit expensive given the features and engine offered in the XUV 3XO RevX M and the Nexon Pure Plus. My priorities are: - Best engine performance and driving feel - Reliability for long-term ownership - Less maintenance/service cost - Good mileage - Comfortable for highway + city usage - Good after-sales experience I mostly drive in city traffic, but also do occasional long highway trips. We would suggest you opt for the Mahindra XUV 3XO RevX M. Its turbo petrol feels clearly stronger than your Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Brezza, so gaps in traffic and highway passes need less effort, and the car feels steady and comfortable at speed. For the money, it also feels like a real “upgrade” in the way it drives and the way the cabin feels.Why it fits your brief: you asked for the best engine performance and driving feel first, and here the 3XO delivers without blowing the budget. You also want long-term peace - Mahindra upkeep is usually reasonable, and parts availability is broad in most cities. The ride and handling balance is also very good, and it does a good job out on the highway or even over broken city roads.The trade-offs: mileage is not its strong point, and Mahindra service isn’t as smooth or uniform as Maruti's everywhere. The Tata Nexon petrol is strong on paper, but it does not feel as smooth at low speeds, and the clutch can feel heavy. As for your question on the Brezza being the most practical? Yes, if you value low running cost, easy service and resale over performance.

Currently an Exter owner looking to upgrade for a family of five. My budget is ₹15 lakh, strictly for a sub-4m petrol automatic (non-AMT) for better city traffic usability. I need maximum cabin space and a sportier driving experience, with daily city use and a highway trip of 700-1000 km once a quarter. Mandatory requirements: Non-AMT automatic, rear AC vents/armrest, and keyless start. Good-to-have features: ESC, hill hold, and an E-brake. Concerns: XUV 3XO (reliability), Sonet/Kylaq (rear seat space), Brezza (dated interior), Tata (avoiding due to service), Venue (too recent). I am highly confused. Please suggest the best two sub-4m petrol automatic models that balance space and reliability with a sporty drive (for example, XUV 3XO vs Brezza). If your 2014 Elite i20 petrol has only done 55,000km and is mechanically sound, there is no compelling reason to upgrade right now. The i20 is a well-built, reliable car with a proven petrol engine, and at that mileage it still has plenty of life left in it. The only reason to upgrade would be if your needs have changed - for example, if you now need more space, a higher driving position or more safety features. If your usage is still mostly city driving and the car is well-maintained, it makes more financial sense to keep it for a few more years. If you do decide to upgrade, look at the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza or Mahindra XUV 3XO - all offer a higher seating position, better safety and a more modern ownership experience without being a huge jump in size or price. But if the car is running well, there is no need to change it just for the sake of it.

I'm having a Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta Plus 1.2 MT, which I bought in June 2024 and have driven around 29,000 km. I was a first-time buyer, so I received a lot of advice from everyone, which left me confused. Eventually, I chose Maruti because of its low maintenance and fuel efficiency. However, I'm now bored with its performance as well as its mileage. I'm getting only 16-17 kpl on the highways, whereas I used to get over 20 kpl initially. My driving is 60% highway and 40% city. Is it worth upgrading to a new car, or when would be the right time to upgrade?

With 29,000 km on your Maruti Suzuki Fronx in just over a year, you are clearly a high-usage driver, and your 60% highway usage is the key factor here. The 1.2 petrol is a reliable and efficient engine, but it is not particularly exciting on the highway, and that is likely why you are feeling bored with this Maruti Suzuki car. The bigger question is whether it is worth upgrading now. Financially, the car is still relatively new, and you will take a depreciation hit if you sell it this early. However, given your usage pattern, it may actually make sense to upgrade sooner rather than later. A diesel SUV like the Mahindra XUV 3XO or the Tata Nexon would be a much better fit for your driving style, offering stronger performance on the highway and better fuel efficiency at higher speeds. Alternatively, if you want to stick with petrol, something like the Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI would offer a much more engaging driving experience without sacrificing too much on efficiency.Ultimately, the decision comes down to how much the current car is bothering you. If you are genuinely unhappy with the performance and fuel efficiency, it is better to upgrade now rather than wait another year or two and continue to be dissatisfied with the car. If you can live with it for another year or two, you will get more value out of the car before upgrading.

If your driving is almost entirely in the city and you don't specifically need the higher seating position of an SUV, the Honda Amaze would be our recommendation. It is refined, comfortable, easy to drive and backed by Honda's excellent reputation for reliability and low maintenance. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is another excellent choice if fuel efficiency and widespread service support are your top priorities.If you prefer an SUV, we'd narrow it down to the Skoda Kylaq and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The Kylaq is the more enjoyable car to drive, with excellent ride and handling, while the 3XO offers more features, a roomier cabin and strong safety credentials. Both are among the best compact SUVs in the segment.For a Rs 10 lakh budget, however, we'd lean towards the Honda Amaze or Maruti Suzuki Dzire, as you'll be able to buy a higher variant with more equipment rather than stretching for an entry-level SUV.

My usage includes monthly travel from Chennai to Coimbatore by highway and another 200 km of combined highway and city driving. So, the maximum monthly usage will be around 1,200 km. Usually, 2 adults and one kid will travel, and sometimes my parents will also accompany us. I am planning to keep the car for 10+ years and need a car that offers good mileage. Since you will be driving between Chennai and Coimbatore often, we recommend that you consider the upcoming 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.0 Turbo. While its launch is scheduled in the coming weeks, the turbo-petrol engine is likely to address one of the Brezza's biggest shortcomings - lack of outright punch, and bring its performance at par with rivals. The turbo will add some much-needed oomph to the Brezza, which is otherwise a spacious, practical, and comfortable family car. It will feel tough, secure and long-distance drives will be a breeze.Alternatively, you can shortlist the Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Between the two, the former will feel a bit nicer to drive, while the latter is more spacious.
