Mahindra XEV 9e Range

The widest spread between claimed and lived-in range across the XEV 9e lineup shows up on the larger 79kWh pack: ARAI certifies it for 656km, yet independent testing has recorded closer to 456km in everyday driving, a gap worth factoring in for a mid-size electric SUV bought partly for long-distance capability. The smaller 59kWh pack carries its own ARAI-certified figure of 542km, and while its capacity is lower, it shares much of the larger pack's charging behaviour.

• DC fast charging, 20-80 percent, in around 20 minutes on both packs (140kW for the 59kWh battery, 180kW for the 79kWh battery)

Getting closer to the certified number on either pack comes down to a few habits: run the highest regeneration setting available, keep highway cruising speeds moderate since sustained high speed drains an EV's range faster than anything else, and precondition the battery ahead of a DC fast-charging stop to cut the time spent there. Smooth, early braking that relies on regeneration rather than the friction brakes is what narrows the gap between the XEV 9e's certified and real-world range in 2026.
