Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 extend digital key support with the Samsung Wallet app

Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 owners in India using a Samsung Galaxy smartphone will soon be able to access their cars through their phones, as a digital key is now supported through the Samsung Wallet app. This means that the app can be used to unlock, lock, or start the Mahindra EVs.

  1. All XEV 9e and BE 6 owners continue to have the digital key option via the Me4U app.
  2. The digital key can now be added to Samsung Wallet, which uses NFC function.
  3. The functionality will roll out soon for car owners with Samsung smartphones in India.

Digital Key on Mahindra EVs: what has changed?

The digital key is not a new feature to Mahindra EVs, as both the XEV 9e and BE 6 debuted with the functionality. Owners had to access this amenity through Mahindra’s own Me4U app. Now, Mahindra has also integrated the digital key function on the Samsung Wallet app to make it easier for Samsung users to operate key functions like locking, unlocking, and starting the car.

Users of other smartphone brands, however, will still have to use the Me4U app if they wish to access their car through their smartphones. Moreover, no changes have been made to either the NFC card keys or the physical keys of both cars, and they continue to operate similarly as before.

How do users benefit from it?

The integration of a digital key in the Samsung Wallet app not only reduces the redundancy of installing another app, but also eases the procedures required to share the key with friends or family members for a chosen time. Users can be assured that the key can be shared only if authorised by the smartphone owner, as Samsung Wallet requires a PIN or biometric authentication to access the Samsung Wallet app.

What happens if a Samsung smartphone with a digital key is lost?

If a Samsung device that has a digital key stored inside it is lost or misplaced, users can delete the key through the native Samsung Find service, which can also be used to remotely lock the device to prevent unauthorised access.

When will the digital key on the Samsung Wallet start operating?

Mahindra is yet to define a proper timeline for when Samsung Galaxy users will be able to have hands-on access to this feature through the Samsung Wallet. However, it has been mentioned that the “functionality for select Mahindra eSUVs will roll out soon in India.”
