•16wI am looking for a 7-seater SUV with a budget of around ₹70 lakh. Please suggest the best option, or should I wait for a year for more choices?

Autocar India
Rs 70 lakh is a substantial budget for a 7-seat SUV, but the sad reality is that there aren't too many options for the money. The charming Land Rover Discovery Sport is the closest in terms of price, but third-row space, comfort, and access are poor. You could look at options a few rungs down the price ladder. The Skoda Kodiaq, for one, is a great SUV that scores for its premium feel, but, again, third-row space isn't great. Likewise, Volkswagen Tayron, which will go on sale in the coming months, also promises a premium vibe but is unlikely to offer great room at the very back. If third-row space isn't critical, we'd suggest you look at the Skoda and Volkswagen cars. Another upcoming option is the MG Majestor, expected in 2026. It's a large SUV that promises generous space even for third-row passengers. The Majestor will be well-equipped, packing in lots of creature comforts, and the body-on-frame construction should also lend it a tough appeal. However, we will only be able to comment on the driving experience once we get behind the wheel of the SUV when it arrives in 2026.

•17wI have been using a Skoda Superb car for the last few years. I am now planning to buy a new car. For some time now, I have developed knee pain. Considering this, would a SUV be better suited for me as compared to a sedan? Can you please also give me some recommendations for the car? My budget is up to ₹75 lakh.

Autocar India
While you are advised to personally test the vehicles to judge comfort, a higher-riding SUV usually is more comfortable to get into and out of than a sedan. There are a fair few options within your budget (do remember to haggle hard!), among which we'd suggest you check out the BMW iX1, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and Land Rover Discovery Sport. You could also look at the Kia Carnival if you are open to the MPV body style.

•27wI want to upgrade my car. My budget is 60 to 80 lakhs. What will be your advice. Land Rover Discovery sports diesel or BMW X1 or BMW X3 or shall I wait for Audi q5 to come. Or can I look for meridian

Autocar India
Without knowing your exact requirements, it’s hard to suggest one outright. Among the options you’ve listed, the BMW X3 is the newest and offers the most features, though it’s also the most expensive. The Land Rover Discovery Sport has the advantage of a third row of seats, though it’s best suited for children. The BMW X1 will be the easiest to drive in the city. The next-gen Audi Q5 is still some time away, with its launch expected around 2026. The Jeep Meridian, meanwhile, won’t feel as premium or as refined as the other options you’ve mentioned.

•27wI want to upgrade my car and have a budget of ₹60-80 lakhs. Should I go for the Land Rover Discovery Sport Diesel, BMW X1, BMW X3, wait for the upcoming Audi Q5, or consider the Jeep Meridian?

Autocar India
In your budget, it's best to go for the BMW X3, although you might have to stretch by Rs 2-3 lakh. It is the newest SUV, offering a strong 2.0-litre diesel engine, plus the latest tech and a spacious and comfortable cabin. The Discovery Sport is a capable car, but it is quite old now and its age shows; if you need a third row of seats, however, do consider it. The X1, in comparison, is a segment below and offers less powerful engines and, of course, less space. The new Audi Q5 launch is some time away, and while it is capable, note that it will only come in petrol guise, not diesel. You could also consider the Mercedes-Benz GLC, whose 2.0-litre diesel is also strong, and it offers a spacious and luxurious cabin as well.
