Have two clavis commercial licensed ev. Wonderful cabin utilization (low floor seats) and excellent silent drive compared to nexon ev, xuv 3xo ev, harrier ev. Among all those suv under this price range clavis ev is more stable in weight to space ratio and cost to satisfaction ratio 😅. Perfect for daily use.

It gives you a really smooth driving experience. City driving becomes a bliss. although the range claimed by the company and the real world range are almost miles apart. The range with AC decreases by almost 100kms which can be a shock. As far as comfort goes, the car is loaded with features and tech.

Hi, I have Rs. 20 lakh in hand and want to buy an EV. However, my height is a concern, as I am 6'1" tall, so I want a car that is comfortable for my height. I drive roughly 180 km per week and around 1,000 km every month on long road trips.

At 6ft 1in, the Sierra EV is worth considering first because the cabin is genuinely spacious and the driving position should comfortably accommodate a taller driver. It also gives you the SUV stance and substantial cabin that you are looking for, while the large boot makes it better suited to your regular long trips.Your running also makes an EV a sensible choice. Around 180km a week is easily covered through home charging, while the longer 1,000km trips will require some planning around fast charging. The Sierra EV's ride is another advantage for your usage, particularly if those long journeys include uneven roads.The Kia Carens Clavis EV is the other car worth considering. It offers a very spacious cabin and greater seating flexibility, so it makes more sense if carrying family members regularly is important. For a primarily five-seat requirement, however, the Sierra's SUV packaging is likely to appeal more.

Which is the best 7-seater EV I can buy with the most features and a long driving range? I am confused between the MG Tomahawk EV and waiting for the Tata Safari EV. Should I buy the MG now or wait for the Safari EV to launch?

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV has been launched at a very attractive price. Although we haven't tested the Hector Tomahawk EV to comment on its performance, range or comfort, first impressions seem positive, and it seems very competent on paper. The Safari EV, on the other hand, hasn't been launched yet, and it's likely to be more expensive in comparison. So waiting for that might only delay your purchase.If you want a competent, proven seven-seater electric car, you could consider the Mahindra XEV 9S and the Kia Clavis EV. The former is more powerful and nicer to drive, while the latter is a lot more spacious in the third row and will be relatively more affordable.

What are the best EV options in the Rs. 18-20 lakh price range? I need an automatic EV with a good AC system and spacious rear seats, especially for passengers with knee problems.

The MG Windsor is the best electric car option in the Rs 18-20 lakh range if rear seat space and comfort are the priority. It is an MPV rather than an SUV, which means it offers a genuinely spacious rear bench with excellent legroom and a more manageable entry height, making it easier to get in and out of the car and more comfortable for passengers with knee issues. The Windsor also has a strong air conditioning system and a smooth, quiet driving experience, which adds to overall comfort. The next best bet is the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which too is an MPV with a hugely spacious interior and easy-to-access, flexible seating. However, it belongs to one segment above and might stretch your budget beyond Rs 20 lakh. Overall, this MG car is the best package for your needs.

I own a Maruti Suzuki Brezza diesel which is going to be 10 years old next year. I want to switch to a 7-seater for a monthly driving of around 1800-2000 km mainly for office commute mainly on highway. Shall I go for either EV, PHEV or other fuel? Also, which is the best car within the maximum budget of 20 lakh?

Unfortunately, there are no plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or even strong hybrid options available in the market at this price point. Also, the only seven-seater EV that'll fit into your sub-Rs 20 lakh budget is the entry-level Kia Carens Clavis EV, which will be equipped with a small 42kWh battery, that should give you a real-world range of around 260-300km. Even so, if you can arrange for home charging, this is an excellent option - one that you should definitely consider as it will drastically reduce your running costs. If home charging isn't possible, and you still prefer the flexibility of an ICE vehicle, we'll recommend you to consider the diesel version of the Clavis EV instead. With a monthly running of 1,800-2,000 km and predominantly highway usage, a diesel 7-seater is still a very sensible choice.

I want to upgrade from a Tata Nexon EV Max to a seven-seater SUV. Having used the EV for almost 4 years, I have experienced how economical it is and would like to go for another EV. One of the best options I am considering is the Mahindra XEV 9S. However, I am not sure whether it is really worth the price, as I don't feel comfortable spending over Rs. 30 lakh on a Mahindra. Are there any better options I should consider? Please advise.

The Mahindra XEV 9S is a genuinely impressive product, but yes, at over Rs 30 lakh, it is a significant outlay, and the question is less about whether the car is worth the money and more about whether it is the right fit for you. The XEV 9S offers strong performance, a well-appointed cabin, and a premium feel, but if you would still like to avoid a Mahindra, opt for the Kia Carens Clavis EV. It does not offer you that SUV stance, but its MPV configuration means a flexible interior and a genuinely usable third row too. It's also well appointed inside with a premium look and feel around the cabin, with all the essential and some nice-to-have features too.
