Volkswagen Tiguan R Line India-spec features revealed

Volkswagen has revealed the feature list of the Tiguan R Line ahead of the SUV’s India launch this month. Anticipated to come in at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tiguan R Line will serve as Volkswagen's flagship SUV in the Indian market.

Up front, the India-spec Tiguan R Line gets sleek connected LED headlights, as well as a huge air dam with a mesh pattern and silver lip. The side profile features 19-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels, large wing mirrors, and distinct creases above the fenders. Over to the rear, the Tiguan R Line has a large LED lightbar with a smoked effect, a roof spoiler above it, and silver-anodised roof rails up top.

Inside, the Tiguan R Line comes equipped with goodies like tri-zone climate control, wireless charging for up to two phones, 30-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door handle recesses, brushed stainless steel pedals, a 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and more. The sports seats at the front have R Line branding, massage functionality, and adjustable lumbar support.

Safety is taken care of with 9 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite with 21 functions, hill start assist, hill descent control, etc. The Tiguan R Line also has a 5-star NCAP crash safety rating.

Tiguan R Line will be able to park itself

Volkswagen's Park Assist Plus with Park Distance Control will also be included in the Tiguan R Line's feature set. This program automatically searches for suitable parking spaces at speed of up to 40kph and can park the SUV all by itself. It can also take over from the driver in the event of an unsuccessful parking manoeuvre and complete the process.

0-100kph in 7.1 seconds

Under the hood, the Tiguan R Line comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 204hp and 320Nm. This output is routed to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing for a claimed 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds and a 229kph top speed.
