Hyundai launched its first compact SUV, the Venue, in India earlier this year at an aggressive price of Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, at launch, the Venue was offered with a dual-tone paint option only in the second from top trim, the SX, available with the 1.0-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel engine, priced at Rs 9.69 lakh and Rs 9.93 lakh, respectively. The Venue 1.2-litre petrol model doesn't get dual-tone paint shade options as this engine is only available in the lower E and S variants.

According to sources, the top variants of the Venue 1.0-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel are now expected to receive dual-tone paint options. The paint options are likely to be offered on the Venue SX (O) that is available in petrol-manual and diesel-manual guises. The Venue petrol-automatic will get this option on the SX+ trim. It is worth noting that the 1.0-litre petrol-auto has never been offered with a dual-tone option so far.

The Venue is offered with three powerplants – a 90hp, 1.4-litre diesel engine, an 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbocharged unit. Coming to the gearbox options, the 1.2 petrol is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.0 turbo-petrol and 1.4 diesel unit get a 6-speed manual. The turbo-petrol can also be had with a 7-speed DCT automatic.

Going by the pricing of the current dual-tone variants – which are Rs 15,000 more expensive than the standard variants – we expect Hyundai to price the 1.0-litre petrol-MT SX (O) at Rs 10.75 lakh, the 1.0-litre petrol AT SX+ at Rs 11.25 lakh, and the 1.4-litre diesel MT SX (O) at Rs 10.99 lakh.

Rivals for the Hyundai Venue dual-tone include the Tata Nexon dual-tone (available on ZX+) which is priced at Rs 9.60 lakh, the Mahindra XUV 300 dual-tone (available on the W8, petrol and diesel) which is priced between Rs 11.79-Rs 12.29 lakh, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza dual tone (available on ZDi+ and ZDi+ AMT) which is priced from Rs 10.04-Rs 10.60 lakh.
