Tata Motors has outlined plans for six product launches by March 2027. Of these, two will be all-new offerings, and four will be facelifts for existing Tata models.

  1. Safari EV expected to launch as Tata’s flagship electric model by the festive season
  2. Tiago and Tigor line-up (ICE and EV) could be refreshed this year
  3. Tata will likely debut its first Avinya EV in the second half of FY2027

Leading the charge for Tata’s model offensive will be the Sierra EV, which is set to go on sale in India in Q2 FY2027 (July to September) – about 8-9 months after the ICE-powered Sierra was launched. The Sierra EV will slot between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata’s electric portfolio and is expected to offer 55kWh and 65kWh battery options with single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD setups.

We exclusively reported that Tata is planning to launch the Safari EV in the festive season of 2026, a model anticipated to be the carmaker’s second new offering for the financial year. The Safari EV will be Tata’s first three-row electric offering and will serve as the flagship of its EV line-up, rivalling the likes of the Mahindra XEV 9S. Battery options for the Safari EV are likely to be carried forward from the Harrier EV – 65kWh and 75kWh packs with RWD and AWD layouts.

Entry-level Tata line-up may see facelifts

As for the four facelifts in the pipeline, these could comprise the ICE and EV versions of the Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan. Tata’s entry-level models have been on sale with minimal updates for quite a while, and test mules of an updated Tiago EV were spotted on Indian roads earlier this year. The refreshed Tiago and Tigor EVs could feature Tata’s new 6-in-1 drivetrain that debuted with the 2026 Punch EV facelift.

In the latter half of FY2027, Tata is also expected to debut the first production EV from its Avinya premium brand, possibly at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This inaugural Avinya EV is likely to be a large SUV and will be underpinned by Tata’s first born-electric architecture, utilising a skateboard layout.

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports

I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
