Tata Motors has confirmed in its latest investor presentation that the Sierra will launch in the second half of 2025. The SUV will be available with both all-electric and ICE powertrain options.

Tata Sierra EV to launch first, ICE to follow
The brand has also confirmed that the Sierra EV will launch first, followed by the ICE version. Both models are expected to go on sale in the second half of 2025. It seems the brand will follow the launch plan that was used for the Curvv, where the Curvv EV went on sale first in August 2024, followed by the Curvv ICE, which went on sale around a month later in September.
Tata Sierra likely to use new ATLAS platform
At the launch of the Curvv, Tata Motors announced an all-new platform called ATLAS, which means Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle. This platform can underpin various body styles, like SUVs, MPVs, and sedans. Additionally, as reported by us earlier, this platform can also support 4X4 capabilities, which means the Sierra may get a 4X4 system paired with an ICE powertrain in the future. If Tata Motors decides to add 4X4 to the ICE-powered Sierra, it will be the first 4X4 ICE SUV from the brand after the Safari Storme, which was discontinued in 2020.
Tata Sierra EV to use Acti.EV architecture
The Sierra EV is expected to use the brand’s Acti.EV architecture, which is essentially Tata's Gen2 EV platform. It also underpins the Punch EV and the Curvv EV. While not confirmed, the Sierra EV could get a dual motor setup that will be seen on the Harrier EV, thus enabling it to get all-wheel drive tech.
Prior to the Sierra, however, Tata Motors has the Harrier EV lined up for launch in the first quarter of 2025. The Harrier EV is expected to share some mechanical components with the Sierra EV.
